When I think of the size of breakfasts I ate in the Home Restaurant, it makes
me gag, as I don't eat like that any more, just can't eat that much and get
away with it now, don't want to be a heavy-weight, have to watch the waistline
you know, ta ta ;-)

That's nothing you ought to order the large stack of pancakes at the Canyon-Alpine truck stop at Boston Bar.

I don't think we'll do the island. I don't have people on the island, and people trump trees.
Thanks I'm going to remember that next time some ecoterrorist trys to tell me I can't go kill a few trees in exchange for a few dollars.
But there is lots to see here.

Hey talloola - no problem there, you just order one meal and one doggie bag.

Awesome feedback guys.

A trail ride... what a great idea Dex. I have a sinking feeling in the pit of my tummy, that hubby's going to want to do other things too, like zip lining. And rafting. Ack!

Sometimes we order one meal and split it. That works too. Then we split
a piece of pie, or some other dessert, if I ate like I used to I would weigh
about 200 lbs, sure don't want that, I hate the thoughts of being too heavy,
or too big. I am persnickity about getting fat, I have never been fat,
and I wouldn't be able to live with it, I would be miserable, but my body
would love to eat too much, we argue all the time.;-)

The Enchanted Forest is a must for kids!

We stayed at a few nice places in our travels out to Alberta. I'll go look for my brochures and let you know the names and locations.
Lots of hotels that have waterslides and excellent complimentary breakfasts.
I can't wait to hit the road this summer too!
That's the place I was trying to think of. Our kids loved it there.

That would be the Eagle River, Cliff, flowing into Shuswap Lake at Sicamous. We took our kids through that Enchanted Forest about 35 years ago, my memory is getting a little dim but I guess it was a good time.

Two hotels we stayed at that deserve mention were the Holiday Inn Express in Salmon Arm.
A little pricey, but clean, nice staff, walking distance to stores, waterslide in the hotel pool and an excellent continental breakfast.

We happened upon a place called The Stanford Inn in Fernie on our return trip.
From the looks of the place we didn't think we could afford it, but it was only a $100.00 a night (plus all applicable taxes...uhg). Has all the same as above at almost half the price.
If we drive that way again I will be sure to stay at least one night there.
The receipt I have says they have a website.
