Such a wonderful list. I know probably ninety five percent of the names.
I would add: Larry Niven, for his Ringworld series , Dexter has named Orson Scott Card, who's book, "Ender's Game" was a sci/Fi benchmark. I've just finished re-reading Carl Sagan's "Contact" for the umpteenth time. My son is a physicist and his big hero was always Richard Feynman.

Abraham Lincoln (had the balls to say "hang on, liberty and freedom for all?, this is a joke, it's a mockery, this country is currently 2 faced about this and I think we're a laughing stock until we change it"...I've been to the Lincoln memorial, read his speec, it effectivly says that, smrt cookie)
FDR....FINALLY managed to drag america into the most called for fight of good and evil the world has ever known, not that most of america thanked him at the time
Teddy Roosevelt.....Like him, I also love north Dakota, he also gave my town a citation...yes it's true, he visited southampton a couple of times, praised my forebearers highly and of course he did a hell of a lot for conservation.

Ronald Reagan - maybe cus he was a crazy old coot, but I thought he was funny
Anastacia Newkirk - (I hear she's not well known in the US), but MY GOD, she's hot, best set of ahem......lungs I ever heard (she's also got a MAJOR Pair and looks amazing) couragous too especially after her breast cancer
Jenny Randolph Spencer Churchill - yes, an American, daughter of the editor of the New York times in the '20's old US money, mother of the greatest brit in history, Mr Winston Churhill.

indeed, great man, as I say, I've got a fondness for North Dakota, it gets a bad rap from a lot of americans, but Teddy loved the place, the old Bull, and as I say, it's really true, he wrote a personal letter to the "citizens of that fine town Southampton, England" said he loved the people and the place, and we'll never forget it.

Al Gore and John Kerry. Great Americans who have served their country, they believe in what is true even if the majority hate their ideals down here and they have lived lives of significance. They have went through ordeals and become wiser men. Unfortunately they're not always appreciated for that wisdom down here in the dirty south.
