There have got to be stats on which city or province is a champion of bag recycling and whether or not a fee is applied to plastic bags.
I don't have a problem with 5 cents for a plastic bag. It's not that
bad of a deal. I mean, 20 "kitchen catcher" bags is about $2.00
but 20 plastic shopping bags is....$2.00
I bought a bunch of those re-usable shopping bags a while back,
and actually used them, & quickly ran out'a plastic bags. Then I
bought those small "kitchen catcher" plastic bags, and put them
in my re-usable shopping bag to take home....& thought,
"What
the Hell am I doing?"
I still use those re-usable cloth shopping bags, but not for
shopping. They hold a lot. I usually pack one with a beach
towel and trunks and a 26oz of booze for a HotTub night
out for the UFC Fights, or something along those lines...
I recycle those 5 cent shopping bags now through my garbage
can, or through my backyard (while gathering dog turds daily)
into the bin in the alley. Between the kitchen & backyard, I use
a minimum of three of them daily. They assist me in cycling
my garbage and dog **** right into the land fill.
Five cents a bag? I'm in!
"How many bags would you like Sir?"
I say,
"I'll take 40! Here's the extra two bucks!" I'll put my groceries
in two or three bags, and the other 36 bags into the 37th one. I don't
know what the City of Toronto's issue is. I'd feel weird asking for 40
bags if I didn't get to pay for them, & I'd just be buy'n them off the
shelf instead of conveniently at the till.
I like the handles too. "Kitchen Catcher's" don't have handles. I
recycle my bags (all of them, so no waste) right into the dump.
Does this count?
