Tarrifs on Steel are for security concerns?

In this case, I can. The President can only raise or lower tariffs unilaterally on national security grounds. So Trump's alleged reasoning is that our national security requires a healthy metals industry, and "unfair" imports hurt our metals industry, therefore threatening our national security.

It's kinda like cops mumbling "suspicious activity" to get around the rule that they can only detain you on suspicion of a crime.

Listen, pendejo, a country with 1/10 of our population can't "devastate" anything.

You pop off stupid ideas like a fireworks show.

And the one good idea you would have had if you had sense enough to pour piss out of a boot would be for Canada to coordinate its response with the EU, Mexico, and possibly Japan.

I got that, pendejo.

Okay.

Imbecility being the key word here. This idiot has no concept of trade or loyalty.

Certainly no concept of loyalty and its enormous value. The U.S.-Canadian cooperation, faith, and friendship is a legend the world around, and one of the things the EU was trying to achieve. In terms of security, commerce, and alliance it is worth literally trillions, and monetary aspects aside, what greater comfort can there be than knowing that well over a quarter of your country's frontier is not only no conceivable threat, but actively guarded by stout, loyal neighbors?

As far as trade, the numbers are irrefutable to any but the profoundly ignorant and megalomaniacal demagogues. The U.S. and Canada are a single market, period. Any interference in that market will do far greater harm than whatever minor irregularities may exist in their trading relationship.

Hell, we've got trade barriers between U.S. states that are greater than our barriers with Canada.

Some of the same garbage steel and aluminium has founds it's way into warships, aircraft, refineries, reactors, chemical plants, autos, appliances and so forth.

I don't want that shit in my country or yours.

He forgot condom and dildo tarrifs.

Why would we want condom and dildo tariffs?

As the title question indicates.......... that is the core silliness of the whole issue.

If CDA is a security issue for the US........or if any of its products are............then the USG......mainly Trump has gone well over the edge in insanity. Paranoid, delusional......and just plain stupid. AND probably a cold, cruel psychopath who could care less about anyone except HIMSELF..........which is so evident .

How can they embarrass themselves like that.

Word is that many in his regime......are feeling embarrassed about this one.......as they should

If someone says that this is hard osed business practice........ then one has bought into the Trump cult mentality...... which is not totally rational.

This is destructive .....and destruction is the methods of employed by psychopaths. Taking Pleasure in inflicting pain and discomfort and organization is psychopathic and tyrannical. And yes....Trump takes great pleasure in inflicting pain and being destructive......while HAVING NO CONSTRUCTIVE ALTERNATIVE policy in place. He ENJOYS throwing hand grenades and then watching the destruction and reaction take place. He is sadistic..

THESE ARE ILLEGAL duties. . but that doesn't matter to a chap that now indicates he can pardon himself should he have a problem as a result of the current investigation.

Has this mental midget lost his ****ing mind. Well, if we in Canada pose a security risk, I guess we're not good enough to support America in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria.

What a numbfukk this President is! Stupid to the ****ing bone and about as bright as the color black.

How can anyone defend this administration or its stupidity?
There is NO defense or justification for this absurdity. As discussed on another thread....... NOT BUYING AMERICAN. ........might not mean much in the bigger scheme of things.......but it's a wee personal effort. CDA FIRST. ;-)

So if America has a tariff on Chinese products , and a Canadian company imports those products from China , should that product pay the U.S. tariff ?
