To add cliche to this whole story of rags to riches, she was caring for her ailing Mother for all these years.Any of those singers sound rather ordinary next to Ms Boyle. She has a crystal purity in her voice that very few have. I wonder what the hell has held her back? I suppose some ad type didn't think she would look good on a record cover. I predict that this woman is going to be a millionaire in a month or two. The sad thing is that she should have been a millionaire years ago.
I listened to this and thought it had to be Barbara Streisand singing it. I listened to Streisand singing it on YouTube. She isn't nearly as good as Susan Boyle is!!

I like some of her songs too.Cry me a river was Nana Mouskouri's signature song for years....It's not anymore
Then - why can't we view it?I approved the video for you Herboozle. Just for a future reference, you normally can't post imbedded videos until you get more posts under your belt.;-)

Juan I hope by now she has been signed up to do both audio and video of her collection of songs she knows - and is probably being bombarded by writers to record their own works.
She is truly a masterpiece of a musical artist - and her physical appearance has so little to do with it - but as someone wrote here - we are all conditioned to see plastic replicas of humans who look more like robots than real people....
I look forward to hearing more of her work - it's not often we get treated to a huge natural talent. If only the 'managers' can be kept at a distance.
I think she is truly a beautiful person right now as she is - I've seen too many gifted artists 'taken in' by the sales merchants and delivered into such anxiety over their appearances, their natural talent has been affected. I hope there is someone in ther life who loves her - for herself - to protect her from the sharks.
I'll ditto Curio. Too much emphasis put on people's covers. Lots of people aren't the Barbie and Ken sort; look at Barb Streisand, Oscar Peterson, Luciano Pavaroti, Barry Manilow, etc.I don't understand the concentration on this woman's personal image....
Her gift is in her voice and her ability to stand with courage in front of television cameras, judges and a huge international audience and sing as she did. What do her look have to do with anything when it comes to natural musical ability?
There are many talented professional singers who are not blessed with beauty - male and female - but when they sing one forgets their looks and listens to their
talent.
No doubt the publicity folk will tart her up for any future performances, but as long as she remains true to her own gift - her voice - and doesn't give in to the commercial crap of beauty and 'presence'.... may she sing as long as she wishes ... she has waited enough time to let the world know of her gift.
I like the character she's shown, in finishing what she started.Apparently Susan Boyle has been offered at least three record contracts(one or two from the states) but she is going to wait until the talent thing is finished before making a decision. It's good to hear something is going well for her.
That's for sure, and from what I've gathered, she's pretty much a stellar member of her town as well.I don't think they will. God, I hope not. She reportedly is well loved at the karaoke place where she has done a lot of her singing in the last few years.
