Stupid, Dumb and Just Plain Ignorant Cop Thread

If one was so inclined, they could easily come to the conclusion or implication as it were, that all Firefighters, are criminals.

If they were so inclined, I'm sure they could. Maybe they would start a thread entitled "All Firefighters are Criminals". In the same vein, anybody that thought all cops were stupid, dumb and just plain ignorant could start a thread entitled "All Cops Are Stupid, Dumb and Just Plain Ignorant. Maybe those that think we live in a police state can even start a thread entitled "We Live in a Police State".

But as shadowshiv has said, this thread "is about less-than-stellar police officers"

I can't say that because I don't know the bulk of cops on the job.... Well, that and the experience of myself and others.

This wouldn't be the first time you've made an assumption because you couldn't quite grasp what was being said to you (I'm still waiting for an explanation of how you came to the conclusion that all of my money comes form the government)

We can all laugh at stupid cops but it shouldn't be used as an anchor to paint the status quo of law enforcement unless that status quo is substantiated.

If this thread is about vilifying dumb cops, it's one thing. But you suggested that we are wasting taxpayer dollars, which implies that there is something wrong with the group receiving such funds, isn't it?

I can't say that because I don't know the bulk of cops on the job. All I can really go by is the pay and recruiting standards of police dept nowadays. Well, that and the experience of myself and others. There has been 15 new recruits come through the local detachment in the last dozen years ago. Only one wasn't a complete waste of skin.

Then the problem is in how cops are employed, not the funding.

This is like the fallacy employed by some conservatives when we start talking about the size of government. It's how government works, not it's size that is the primary problem.

Don't scrap the system. Just reform it so that we have less stupid cops (if reform would even accomplish that). Before that, we would still have to find the number of negligent cops and whether they impose a serious threat to enforcement as a whole.
