I think the way chretin behaved was disquisting!
Why? He answered all of the questions he was asked by the inquiry. He had every right to repond to Gomery's charge that giving away golf balls was, "small-town cheap." Gomery never should have said that, especially directly to the press. A judge is supposed to reserve judgement until all the evidence has been heard.
Rex murphy is right, this is no joke, this is serious business and canadians have a right to know what happened to that money.
He may be right, but this turned into a political circus before Gomery even banged his gavel the first time. Nobody involved is interested in the whole truth coming out. Instead they are on a witch hunt.
The amount is to huge that it can be ignored.
As federal government budgets go it's pretty much pocket change, actually. That doesn't mean that this shouldn't be investigated but things have to be kept in perspective.
Even if you are liberal you must demand answers.
The answers aren't going to come out of this mess. The whole thing is designed for answers not to come out. We would have been better off just letting the RCMP investigate it. They've already pressed some charges.
Oh no, were up the creek without a paddle now, Rex Murphy’s pissed. He's gonna chew us all new A holes, for wasting all that money...
He's just pissed the CBC didn't get it and the CBC could have used it and the CBC is full of Liberals, and if the CBC isn't in the business of selling Canada to Canadians, who is?
First off, Rex Murphy has continually espoused the same views on government that you have, JJ. He wants it to be small and ineffectual.
Second of all the CBC has its own budget...which works out to less than a case of beer for every Canadian every year...so that's not a valid statement at all.
Third of all most countries, especially the developed ones, have a government-funded national broadcaster.
Fourth of all the CBC is internationally respected for the quality of its news and adherence to high journalistic standards.
Fifth of all, what the hell is wrong with having a national broadcaster that presents Canadian views to Canadian people?
If Jay or I had posted what PeaPod did you would be all over us for being Liberal haters and to lighten up.
Just because you tend to agree with her on almost everything else you don't have to treat with "kidgloves" when she posts something your against.
Sorry, but I had other things to do. I started a whinging thread a while back, maybe you'd like to check it out.
Why do I get the distinct feeling you have alot more time on your hands than i do?
It doesn't take much time at all.
I question that the judge did not ask why John Cretien thought it was OK to spend $100 million on only the golf balls! Seems like I could have gotten them cheaper.
That's just silly.
and I will reapeat to you once again, given a choice between being robbed and having religious zealots in power...a no brainer....I choose robbery.
A couple of things...there is absolutely no indication by their political records that the Conservatives would be any less likely to steal, rob, cheat, and lie than the Liberals are. The Conservative law dude (that's the official title that I gave him...I think the Conservatives call him Justice Critic) Vic Toews just got busted here in Manitoba for breaking provincial election laws. Former leader and present Foreign Affairs Critic, Stockwell (Doris) Day broke the law by leaning on a lawyer. When the lawyer sued him, Doris used government of Alberta funds to pay for his defense.
There are more, but those are just off the top of my head.
