yep. forgot that for a minute. This is still the fastest internet i ever had without a nazi firewall around me. When i was at uni I used their network and sometimes got downloads of 800kbps but couldnt use P2P stuff
university ones suck even more cos the staff are underpaid and dont know what they're doing so they block **** they dont need to
yeah, I recall that when I was in college. They shut down all the ports except for the ones they consider to be essential... 80, 25, 110.
i'm assuming there's some kind of upload limit on my connection. hope i dont reach it. i'd hate to be without a connection. it's a little unfair to give a limit but not let us see how much we've used

You probably have a download cap in the range of 10gb. I would call them and find out, if you exceed it you will be paying about $1.50/gb over.

I know that bell has a bandwidth meter you can check via there web site, I would imagine your ISP has something similar?
it's always so bloody hard to find anything useful in amongst the crap telling us how wonderful they are

you guys have me worried now. I can't find anything on shaw.ca about how much ive used but i know ive been heavily using the connection. I assumed something would let me know when i was enar the limit. had no idea i could be building up charges
The only way you will go over their limit is if you download lots of Mp3's, Movies etc. If you browse primarily, I wouldn't worry about it.
go to www.dslreports.com and check out the Canadian broadband forum. Should be able to find the info you need.
i just checked out the shaw website. it does say that they can charge u if u go past the limit but it doesnt say how much and there seems to be no way of knowing how much you've used. How can they charge me for something I have no way of regulating???

AH. found it. there IS a usage tool but you have to find the instructions (which are in an obscure corner of the site) and phone them up and register and all sorts.
