Must be a huge difference for those that are looking for speed.
me it's high speed lite....only cause it's the same price as dial up now.
I've been with shaw since I started here but I'm on my third computer and it's a hell of a lot faster than the first one. For me, speed is kind of academic because I'm not into anything but a bit of word processing......etc. I do do a bit of photo work but that doesn't take speed....it takes patience...:smile:

I am with Telus high speed lite up to 256kpbs download and 128kpbs upload and when I do a speed test it shows approx 256kpbs download and 196kpbs upload. This plan offers 10gb usage and I was told by Telus agent that my upload usage is free. Is this correct?
Also I have been logging my bandwidth usage and noticed alot of days where I have downloaded large files but I am not being charge for the download. Can anyone explain? or Is there a time of day Telus offers free "download time"?

In my case, my family downloads at least 140 gb per month. This is the LEAST.
The most I saw was 170gb per month, download/upload.
So here are answers for your question:
No, if you are told "you got 10 gb dl/up per month" then you are stuck with it, you are not given much more than that.
However, they CHARGE you sometimes for overloading your download/upload limit so be ware of that. My family got ripped off by Bell when clearly our service was Ultra High Speed Internet. Oh..sorry, they changed it to Total Internet and the Bell just changed our service ..er...degraded our service to High Speed Internet. Now, we pay like $80 per month compared to $45 Ultra High Speed Internet.
Also, my family used Cogeco before and if we go over the limit, they just shut us down.

No, I don't think so. They do offer free throttle time...at least that's what my provider [cough bell cough] does.
Joungjoonkim, thanks for your respond. I havn't kept track of how much I have downloaded but alot and my bill is less than what I have download or uploaded. Was I throttling?
When I say throttling, it means the ISP provider is limiting your speed [dl/up] for limited amount of duration. For example, let say you got 256 kpbs [pretty good I guess. Is this about 250 kb/s?]. The provider can and WILL limit your speed by 50%, 75% or etc. The providers might say, "your service has not been degraded" but in truth, it kinda has because we aren't going to receive that much speed we--the consumers--pay for. [By the way, throttling is daily phenomenon once its initiated by companies. It has nothing to do with how much you download or upload, it simply means "controlling speed upto certain level for a duration of time."]
Also, the bandwidth simply means how much dl/up you can do. So, if you are paying less than what your suppose to then you might not have passed 10gb dl/up which is good thing since you are not spending more than your suppose to.
