Something Ive never done before

I just made a small contribution to the Democrats. (don't worry honey its on MY card)

Ive never contributed financially before. I just feel SO STRONGLY that we have to get the republicans out of office nationwide that I became the first contributor (for this round of donations) for my home state. I always vote. And I do what I can non-financially like send spam and wear buttons and talk to people etc, but this is the first time I have ever sent funds. I hope it helps.

You have to be a US citizen or legal resident to contribute. If there are other Americans on this forum who would like to donate please PM me for the link.

Good for you to contribute. Democracy runs on money. I've donated here in Canada for many years. It's also a fairly good tax deduction here in the true north strong and free.

Thanks Walter. It feels sort of funny, but in a good way. It was a tiny amount, but they are doing it on a state by state basis and nobody from my state had contributed yet. Im sure there's just as much corruption as anywhere else but it does make me feel like I did SOMETIHNG.

Were I an American, I doubt I would contribute to either party.....I would contribute to John McCain's campaign......but he seems to have sunk out of sight........I'd rather be shot in both kneecaps than contribute in any way to ANY organization that might help Hillary Clinton get elected President...........scary thought. Not that I think it will happen.

I do contribute to the Conservative Party of Canada in a small way......and Thomaska is correct.....man, if you think tele-marketers are bad, try getting on the list of a political party!

Kudos for getting involved.....even if you are SOOOOO wrong with your support dollars.

Now you will be called and sent all kinds of stuff in the mail asking for more. Maybe one day you can buy a $1,000.00 plate and have dinner with the likes of John Kerry.

Did anyone see the piece on CBC last night about the political parties and their data mining? The Conservatives have one of the best and most comprehensive systems, which is why they are head and tails above the other parties in fund raising. The conservative system actually gives each person a rating, a smiley face, a frown, or a neutral flat line smile. Then next to that is a grade, which corresponds to how well you have donated or interacted with the party in the past. By focussing on the best supporters, and relentlessly asking for contributions, they maximize their incoming money, while lowering costs by avoiding unfriendly constituents. Pretty interesting stuff, and kinda Orwellian, but all parties do it, just some better than others ;)

I did see that too Tonnington - it's getting to the point where you almost have to wonder who doesn't have a data file on you anymore. Bass Turds, all of 'em.
