That's like saying those people who kill a bear for the gaul bladder are typical of hunters and so there should be no hunting.

in ontario ITS THE LAW to submit the gal bladder to the MNR

the only people not doing it are poachers, and yes even the americans coming up here have to submit the gal bladder if there hunting in ontario

Word around the ol'water cooler has been that those pesky euro's arent done yet....

They are rallying to come at us for the Bear Hunts we offer to americans.. Polar Bears i understand...

There calling them the $30,000 trophy hunts, its a shame too cause alot of people up north rely on unlce sams money to survive...

Apparently its in humane, well ill take them euros seriously when they all become vegetarians lol, and even then farming plants and not letting them go in the wild is slavery :p

"They are rallying to come at us for the Bear Hunts we offer to americans."

WHAT?? Do Canadians have no sense of being responsible for one's self?? So when you're around the ol' water cooler do you make it clear to Europeans that it's the Americans fault that your conducting bear hunts because Americans pay you for this? Do you make it clear not to blame Canada? This is one tiny, tiny example of the Canadian mindset that eventually results in supposed Americans wearing Maple Leafs on backpacks. Americans make you do this? Is it still possible for the white man to go to darkest Africa and have natives take them on a safari, carrying their food and water?

"alot of people up north rely on unlce sams money to survive..."

WHAT?? Canada can't provide for it's' own citizens? You have people that are so bad off that they can't survive without money from the United States? Don't you have charities in Canada that can help these people who can't survive without money from America?

Talk about passing the buck, keeping your head low, not taking a stand, and let someone else do heavy lifting. As long as you let the European protesters know you're doing it for Americans.

unforgiven i said i uderstand why the euros would get all worked up about polar bears

And i dont know you would have to ask the inuits up north if they are part of the drug trade, i cant speak on there behalf....

Mabye getting involved in the drug trade would be a good idea?

Americans just dont pay big bucks for polar bears, but also black, and brown bears... Alot of Sportmen lodges rely on the money coming from the south... And my concern is that the animal rights activists will just blindly fight any bear hunting

Some will pay even more for a 12 year old boy. Does that make it ok?
There is always some people with money that are happy to drop a little, and really it is a little money on something they want. When it comes to the point where it isn't sustainable, it's cruel, or inhumane then beyond a source of sustanance, we have to examine that use and determine if it's moral to do so.

There is a reason why Americans choose to come to Canada to hunt bear. Have you ever wondered why Americans simply don't go hunt American bears?

You miss the point. Poachers aren't typical of the usual Hunter.

unforgiven its the way it is, take the names of all the people who rely on this sort of money and take it up with them

Like i said i understand them protecting polar bears, but brown and black bears are a dime a dozen

I was under the impression the reasons behind the seal kill were pelts, food (for a few sorts), and that seals eat fish that people want. IMO, going after the skins of fellow creatures is draconian and foul, going after food is different (but not on mass scales), and the main reason why fish stocks deplete is because of people, not seals.

Nature has been regulating species populations long before humans came along quite adequately. Humans came along and within a relatively shoret period of time, messed it all up. The reason? We are still a a parasite. When we learn to be symbiotic, we and the planet will be better off.

In my opinion Les, if you're killing an animal, you should be using all you can. If you slaughter cattle, you should be using the skins for leather, etc. So using skins isn't draconian and/or foul to me unless it's the sole purpose, and you're leaving behind a carcass to rot once you're through. If you don't like to eat seal meat, fair enough, but plenty of butchers pay good money for biologically appropriate dog food.

You pretty much have it. Those pretty white pelts made nice boots and purses - but seal pups are only white for a couple of weeks. The seal wasn't completely fish food as long as the market was there. Seal may be meat to some - but it was money to more.

Man (note ALL man) has endangered fish stocks to the point where seals are competing with us for food. A six million dollar seal hunt isn't really the issue. A billion dollar fishing industry is.

Thats a good point lonewolf, all these arm chair emo's just like to talk...

They dont care about the support industry for our wildlife, and how much income it generates the people who depend on it...

I find it equally disgusting that these same people like to group the sportsman lodge owners with the likes of rapists, and drug dealers...

I wonder how big the support industry is for bear hunting specifically...

I agree, Karrie. Perhaps I should have said "killing JUST for the pelts". That is no different than trophy hunting in essence. People still kill tigers and whatnot just because their skin looks pretty on a wall; that their neighbor might like the meat is incidental. It's an attitude thing. My wife and I hunt, but the purpose is food, not skin. That we have deerhide shirts and stuff is incidental.

And btw attack me for my veiw on life, i come from a hunting family and we have always used 100% of the carcass....

You know, some of you might not know this but hunting can be benifical for conservation, believe it or not

lol You think? Predators in their quest for FOOD end up culling the weak. It is a self regulating process. Humans come along and mess with it. Most hunters are looking for the big buck with the big spread in spite of thew fact that the older, bigger ones have the strongest genetics and the younger taste better, the meat is more tender, and they may be weaker genetically. The result being is that we cull the stronfer of the species.

Beware.... Some of the tourist hunters have the idea "The Hunt" is a fenced-in place where you can set yourself up in a cozy blind and wait a few minutes until the Game Park attendant releases quarry from a cage....

Those are the places PETA should be haunting....

Johnny, there are some (like myself) who have no problem with sustenance hunting and also appreciate the need to conserve. There are people who are unable to see the big picture over their pocket book. They are unwilling to change for the good of humanity. THey only want to put food on the table (which is fine) even at the expense of their own future.
