If your kid asks if it alright to play in the traffic, what do you answer?

I Explain the consequences and then say no. When was the last time God explained the consequences of smoking, or told anyone not to marry that nice person because they beat those close to them, or they have aids?? When has God taken away the pain of cancer, cured childhood diabetes, repaired the brain of a newborn with downs syndrome??? Why hasn't He?? Surely that child born with only a portion of a brain, did nothing to deserve living under such conditions. Or do the sins of the fathers actually manifest in the sons??

uhm.... Not much of one, apparently, in some people's cases....

You do read in context don't you?

If you are referring to applying normal human standards to God, you bet. Otherwise, what other goalposts ae we supposed to have?? I am not much good at ignoring discrepancies, small or large. I have fairly decent standards and anything/anyone I put faith in must have at least a modicum of decency.

So far, my standards are way far and above those of the biblical God.

Good for you! Standards above an intangible - a spirit, conscience, GUIDEpost - must be very high ones indeed. Why would you suggest someone give up their medications and trust in something beneath you?

It is far too late to refer to biblical standards as intangible. It has been very clearly spelled out what is expected from humans, but explain to me what we can expect from "God" the Father other than what will happen if we don't believe ?? How high do one's standards have to be to lknow the biblical God ones are far lower?? I do not petition by prayer nor do I expect dispensation from such a being..

Meditation has proven much more benefical in my experience.

I think explaining anything to do with Faith, spirit, God is far beyond what is in my capability or what you want to read/hear. I would, however, like to hear why you would counsel someone to give up prescribed mediation and trust in that which you don't.

Heck, where is the belief in God?? I don't recommendl giving up medication .....except when I am told faith in God is what heals!! In this case, I demand proof. Then it comes down to putting ones faith where one's mouth is.

Good grief, it is a good thing Faith, Spirit in one's stock broker is not as blind as that in the biblical god.
