Solar Energy Battle Gets Explosive in Louisiana

A campaign finance director for a pro-solar energy candidate running for Louisiana’s utility regulatory board had his home and cars blown up Thursday.

No one was injured in the explosions, and authorities have yet to established a direct link between the apparent attacks and the campaign’s efforts to promote solar energy, according to local station WWL.

But the ATF is assisting in the investigation of the incidents, according to NOLA.com. The finance director targeted, Mario Zervigon, a well known political operative in the state, is taking a break from campaigning for candidate Forest Bradley-Wright.

Bradley-Wright is campaigning on a program that allows Louisiana solar-panel users to continue to sell their excess electricity to utility companies. He is facing incumbent Eric Skrmetta, who seeks a cap on how much electricity solar customers can sell. They are competing in a run-off election for a seat on Louisiana’s Public Service Commission, which sets electricity rates in the state. Bradley-Wright has received most of his campaign funds from the solar industry, according to WWL.

Skrmetta quickly distanced himself from the apparent attack and expressed his solidarity with his opponent’s campaign.

The run-off vote will take place Dec. 6.

In Germany they are now charging utility rates for businesses that are not even hooked up to the grid. In Spain the government recently voted to both limit future solar power and start taxing those who already have panels. These are two of the most solar progressive countries on earth that have been doing about turns on policy recently.

Why? Is it pressure from big oil? Nope.

Someone has to pay for these countries aging nuclear and coal plants and infrastructure along with upgrading new plants. Additionally, electric utilities are cash cows to municipalities who charge rent for all those thousands of miles of underground electrical lines and of course blue chip dividend paying electrical stocks are an important component of most government and private pension funds.

Solar was easy for government to promote back when it cost $20.00 per watt per panl but right now you can buy quality panels for as low as .70 a watt and this is changing everything.

Black on white attacks are very high in the USA though statistics not associated with white supremacist groups tend to remain buried and/or very politically incorrect and focused on the disproportionate number of crimes by blacks committed against whites.

However, the ADL does acknowledge this as an issue and admits the media tends to ignore the growing racially motivated hate crimes against whites the past few decades. Does that count as terrorism in your books?
