Snakes are Canadians' greatest fear: Survey
Slithering snakes are even scarier than creepy crawly spiders, heights or speaking in front of a crowd, according to a survey that ranks Canadians' biggest fears.
The Angus Reid online poll of 1,500 people across the country was done to help promote the Canadian Cancer Society's new fundraiser.
"The Fearless Challenge is all about confronting a fear in a fun way that can be shared with friends," cancer society spokesman Mike Kirkpatrick said in a press release. "And those friends egging you on with donations will also be supporting a great cause — helping people with cancer to confront their fears."
Some of the participants include Teresa Brauer, who ate 10 crickets for $1,000; Ian Cole, who touched a snake for $400; and Kevin Santos, with a vow to wax his legs for $1,500.
Nine out of 10 Canadians say they have fears, and 68% of younger Canadians admit they worry about them, compared to 43% of seniors.

My biggest fear is stupidity. And yes, I'm scared of myself.

I am very grateful I haven't fears about bugs, spiders, snakes, or creepy crawlies. Life is scary enough.

I'm afraid of drivers on cell phones. At least a drunk is trying to pay attention. As a matter o fact cell phone users have surpassed drunks in fatalities and injuries.
