Yet not one Republican voted for it! Obamacare was made by Democrats 100%. Because it is an absolute failure they are trying to say it was a GOP plan. It was the one piece of legislation that the GOP could not stop during the first two years of the Obama Administration when the Democrats had complete control of Congress.

THEY OWN IT!
I think we should set up our own insurance company and get on the Super Cool Serve Everybody Exchange.

Heck, we could even name it We'll Take Your Money and Deny Your Claims Insurance, Inc. People'd still buy, because in some parts of the country, we'd be the ONLY OPTION.

All the insurances already have those plans in place. Large premiums, large deductibles... little coverage. As a person on NPR stated that many have policies but not health care coverage.

The beauty of Obamacare is that we could have taken any of the 33 other national health plans in the OECD, translated them to English, voted 'em in Congress, had Obama sign 'em, and had a better national health plan that this clusterf*ck.

I listened to Randy Bachman telling the story of a fellow musician down in California who he found selling furniture in a department store. Did he own the store, he asked? No, he had a hrart attack and spent some tine in hospital in L.A.. When he was healthy enough to leave, he was presented with a bill for $1,500,000.00 that was either not covered or refused by the "health insurer" and he lost his house, everything. How often does that happen in the U.S. every day? This does not happen in any of the advanced countries. You've got to be completely off of your nut to want a system like that.

p.s. Are you all there, Walter? There is no practical ereason to want to adopt the far more expensive private health care system. Is it just hatred that drives you, Walter?

Smart guy, not having a health plan , but how would Obama care help him if he was a smart guy and didn't sign up ?

Try waiting 16 months to see a specialist and get in to be told you have an unoperatable condition that if they had caught it 14 months ago they would have saved you .
Had to many friends have that told to them , as you age you will see it as well .

It didn't say that he did not have a health plan. I believe that for whatever reason, his insurer refused to pay the tab. I believe that you need approval from them before you run one up, like that.

Do you have pre-approval for a big heart attack? What happens if the Blue Cross Death Panel refuses to pay?

Anyway, Obama Care is only a half-assed, partial version of a modern helth care system , too. The US is so, so far behind and backwards that it is pretty obvious they will never catch up to the rest of the developed countries.

Canada is among only a few nations that have a healthcare system that is exclusively public with no option.

... The rest of the world can't be wrong

It's not exclusvely public. We have to pay out of pocket for all sorts of things, like physiotherapy, dentistry, some elective surgury, fertility clinics, all prescription drugs,... I had to shell out $ 140.00 ten years ago to get the wide open palm of my hand stitched back together in Qiebec, a decade ago. About a third of the health care available to us is pay-as-you-go and I carry suuplementary insurance for me and my family. What doesn't happen here is that I will not lose my house from a seriously bloated hospital bill.

I guess that's why when people are really sick the go to the States for treatment.

Out of the thirty six million of us, some hundreds a year go to the States for special treatments that you can't get in the public system ... or, more likely, to jump the queue, as was suggested by my own doctor once, to me. You had better be seriously wealthy, though. That is why poor people have no health care at all, in the US.

Total BS. Medicaid is what the poor receive and it's equivalent to what we receive here in Canada.

Actually, that's BS. I have some not wealthy but not poor inlaws down in Florida that are "covered" by HMOs and that have needed medical care over tye last couple of decades. What they get down there is clearly inferior to what we get up here, consistently. We are dealing with a cridis down there now brought on by a little old lady shoved out the hospital door well before she was well and could cope.

Backwards. They are very, very backwards.

Our system is great for trauma and emergency care . It is great for nurses and health care professionals and hospital administrators . As for the rest not so great .
