Oh, how can I resist this one.

Ha...a politician with some backbone who's not afraid to tell it like it is. What a concept. I know it's a little hard for some of you sheeple to grasp but there are honest politicians out there who can take a stand for principles they believe in. Right or wrong, it's a breath of fresh air. Go get em Danny! Let's vote the Green Party in and throw out the old boys club. I like Elizabeth. She's all bubbly and man does she look at home down there in the maritimes. I hope she nails Harper to the wall during the debate. Too bad Danny can't be there.

Danny Williams is an arsehole.

He refuses to let gov't ads run in a newspaper run by someone he doesn't like.

He vetoes the appointment of the head of Memorial University because they don't reflect his view of the province.

He can not deal with the fact someone might disagree with him.

He borders on meglomania.......a strange, sick, dangerous man.

Come on Colpy. The man won 43 of 47 seats in his home province. Ninety percent of Newfoundlanders aren't wrong
A strange, sick, megalomaiac who cannot deal with the fact someone might disagree with him........Sounds a lot like Harper. ;-)

Danny Williams is an arsehole.

I'll call your Danny arsehole and raise you a Stephen dickwad...

He refuses to let gov't ads run in a newspaper run by someone he doesn't like..

It's his government...he's King Danny....muhahaha...

He vetoes the appointment of the head of Memorial University because they don't reflect his view of the province..

Heresay...Memorial University asked the government to help in the search for a new president. Danny is doing his job and making sure they get the right person for the position.

He can not deal with the fact someone might disagree with him.

If that were true his MP's would be bolting for the door. I admit he has a strong personality but that's what NF needs right now to gain a foothold and put the province on solid ground. Pity the fools from upalong who try to push their agenda on Newfoundland again. Now you have a serious contender to deal with.

He borders on meglomania.......a strange, sick, dangerous man.

Power will embolden the best of us...look at Harper for example. He'd sell his mother to gain a majority in this election.

So what is Harper's Mother going for anyway? Is it an Ebay thing? Can I use PayPal? Does she do windows?

Here's what Harper had to say after the Abitibi paper mill in Grand Falls announced they were about to layoff 171 employees....
Anyone who loses their jobs can go to Fort McMurray.

According to Dave Coles, national president of CEPU, who is in central Newfoundland tending to the situation at the AbitibiBowater mill, in a private meeting Harper told him that there would be no package to support the newsprint industry and that anyone who loses their jobs can go to Fort McMurray.

Clearly NL paper workers are lower on the scale of importance than Ontario auto workers who recently recieved a multi-million dollar bailout.

You're missing the point Ron. It's not the numbers but the attitude. If Harper can take this stance with one section of Canada, what his next move? The loggers in BC? The farmers in Saskatchewan? People need to realize just how cold and out of touch this trickster really is. His campaign is a total sham. C'mon, he's shunned the press for 2 1/2 years and suddenly he's dressed in a sweater and having breakfast with them just for a photo op? I'm sorry but I don't read any sincerity in his actions or in his eyes. GO ELIZABETH!!!

I'm not missing the point, and I'm not arguing with you either. Yeah, he's cold and calculating.
I get it. He's a politician. Believe it or not, I'm agreeing with you. That's why I'm saying it's a
numbers game. If these autoworkers became jobless after an election instead of before one,
do you think Harper would'a dumped the volume of $$$ that he did towards the greatest
number of voters like he did??? 171 paper workers vs. THOUSANDS of out of work
auto workers. One vote per person. I get it. Saskatchewan is thinly populated like NL. We
HAD a paper industry too until the last two years. It's not being bailed out either.

Ron, sorry if I've misread your intent here. I do tend to get fired up sometimes...especially if my home province is taking it on the chin. You're spot on about the auto workers. They'd be left high and dry if this was post-election.
It's interesting to read about Abitibi and how they are downsizing because of the reduced demand for paper. They recently shut down a mill in Texas. A few years ago they shut down the mill in Stephenville, NL. And guess where most of the workers ended up....Fort McMurray. I'm not sure who was involved in the paper industry in Sask. but that industry is reeling these days.

Warehouser WAS the bigdog on the block in the paper industry in Saskatchewan. The
northern 1/2 of the province is forest. It's the Canadian shield and much of it looks very
much like Northern Ontario or Newfoundland. It's wild country with few people (=voters)
in it. Saskatchewan has 14 Federal seats. ONE of those 14 is the Northern 1/2 of the
province. I can empathize with where you're coming from, but it's a numbers game.

For sure it's a numbers game. That's why provinces like NL and SK have to make their voices heard loud and clear. Sometimes this comes across as arrogant or 'meglomaniac' (as one person put it) but we won't be drowned out by the masses. I've always thought our country was too regionalized and it's always been every man for himself. But wouldn't it be nice if we all pulled together as a nation and worked towards a common good. But I just checked the papers and hell hasn't frozen over yet, so ce la vie....
