Who is marginalizing imigrants? I am simply sugesting read and write should be credetials that make an informed voter. All the rest here is playing with words like China doese when he comes on the air................:p:p:p:p:roll:
...and what's wrong with listen? What's wrong with watching someone as they speak? Pamphlets are glossed over, proof-read sales literature. Can you see their eyes? Can you read their body language? Can you tell whether they're lying or not by reading words that were most likely written by somebody else?

We must never restrict any citizen of legal age to vote. If we did this we would be throwing democracy out the window. As it is, its very questionable weather or not we have a real democracy. Lets not throw another monkey wrench into the mix.

Oh, god forbid we should ever have mandatory voting. Could you just imagine yourself standing next to a booth and hearing 'eenie meenie maynie moe'?

And we need to reform the education system. As for immigrants, I'm not talking about them. Some immigrants have more brains than many Canadians do.

You seemed to have an issue with people who can't read and write being allowed to vote.

Blind people, for the most part, cant read and write.

Perhaps you meant something else; who knows.

Hey TenPenny, blind people can hear…………………
Look, it is important that we look at this realistically,
Amongst people not every one possesses knowledge which can help them make correct decisions for them self’s…….I am referring to the immigrant vote……… Bias during ELECTION TIME is at its peak, as I am sure you know, which makes it fair to venture in where a family member in some family’s, would have the ability to persuade the entire household to a one party vote, there is no democracy on that………So an educated vote vs. the tribal guided vote. 7 people in the same house hold one party vote, works for me only if the 7 members of that family all new on their own intelligence what is a political party going to do for them………

Ethnic vote in many instances have a emotional element build into them…. Not knocking emotion; but in the game of politics, logical understanding should prevail, rather then a bias pack that confuse the electoral system……

100% if all people new who was good for them we would not be making a political balance on a raiser blades edge between 2 political long rivals…..As LW called it Political PIG-PONG……..I am not prejudice at no one, all I am saying is educating the voter will be good for the country at the long term…….. I never said a specific race should not vote………………………………..

Ask Jaques Parizeau or Lucien Bouchard what that immigrant vote can do. No matter what you want to make yourself believe, immigrants are not deaf, dumb, blind, crippled, crazy or illiterate. Usually, by the time they become Canadian citizens and eligible to vote, they have a working knowledge of the language. Many times, they speak and comprehend English better than you do.
