Heard on the radio today that a reporter was manhandled, called a myriad of nasty names like "douchebag", told she should be gangbanged, and then her job threatened ............ by the cops.

I have sympathy for all protesters whether I agree with them or not and here is why.
If we give up the right to protest, we give up one of the key threads in our democracy. I would rather people protest with placards in the streets against the
police with light weapons and the ability to arrest people who are out of hand.
The reason is simple, if we don't allow for steam to be blown off we run the eventual
risk of police against tanks like China and other countries.
Besides its time we stood up for what we believe in and demonstrated we will not
be pushed around in our own land.
As for the those who committed acts of violence, I have no sympathy for them at all.
People like this fray the fabric of our society and allow the state to diminish the
rights that so many have fought to achieve. They need to be held accountable for the violent acts and be made to pay restitution for any damages.
I have seen demonstrations in many parts of the country and they were controlled by
police who had a much different attitude than those at times in Toronto. yes at times
the police were the problem, but for the most part it was the radicals inside the peaceful demonstrations that were the problem.

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable". - JFK

I don't think that's exclusive to revolution.

The radicals were scrawny teenagers. They give thugs a bad name.

That's going a bit overboard, IMO. But the police chief backs his men.

Not at all surprising- apparently there were 5000 cops on site, so I'd expect half a dozen to be just like that.
