The entire purpose of this reactionary material was to inflame the passions of the younger members against their elders in a diabolical plan to split the demographic continuity of this great nation. People under forty use more air, water, food and space. They should be taxed accordingly. Being active should carry a heavier associated cost. Certainly cost of living could prevent this problem by helping to ensure fewer old people in the future by applying strict controls on the under forty dumb twots.

I agree with you here, DB. Except I see a possible problem with

"Being active should carry a heavier associated cost."

I see the obese population using this as a means of those active and healthy paying the obese persons way...There may need to be clarification to this.

Certainly there is room for refinement. Youthfull people and their damn activity is often associated with wear and tear on roads and sidewalks which have to be maintained to support their lavish expenditure of energy. Why should my taxes rise because
they are into opulently expensive fit fads such as jogging and biking and mountain climbing?

LMAO!

Wasting youthful vigour in such a frivously opulent fashion...the audacity!. I think we should tax Lululemon more. Surely much of it is that corporations fault...If we didn't look so fabulous in those yoga pants we might no be out there doing so much. Putting so much wear and tear on the environment. Changing the way the landscape looks and such.

those pants are amazing...

Love the use of opulent. It's a hard word to use.

No. I'm not a selfie picture taking kind of person. Plus, it would look soooo weird to be taking pictures of my pants...not that I'm not weird to begin with...lol

You could just post a pick of somebody else and tell us it was you. The imagination can be a wonderful thing.

Yeah but then the pressure of keeping up the pretense of having the most perfect a$$ might be too much. Cause if I was going to pretend I'd have to make sure to go all in. Then just trying to find a picture like that...well as you can imagine could take a life time...

So Cannuck, all I've gotten from your posts, is that you resent those of us who have worked hard, made good decisions and have now retired with the means of providing ourselves with a good retirement.

I assume you use the Medicare system we put in as well as the unemployment system. Even the Canada Pension fund will benefit you eventually. How about your generation leading us once more into war, Or their greediness in wanting everything paid for from grade school to college for life!! Or the time off after having children, for either parent.....or cheap child care.

You don't want to quiz Cannuck too closely on these matters. Sometimes the little fella gets to blurting stuff out before he has a chance to give it serious thought. Not a big deal, he just can't help it!

I use some government programs as do all Canadians. I guess where you and I may differ is that I believe our limited tax dollars should go where they are needed most. Do you disagree?

And exactly where is that, in your opinion?? From your posts, as soon as a person reaches retirement, they should be euthanized and their assets seized. I have some older friends who must watch every penny and some have had to sell their homes and move into a couple of rooms, because the pensions do not cover the upkeep on the family home.

Hell, I think young people have it made today. I worked from the time I was 12. Back then it was possible to work as a salesperson, or cook, housekeeper summers and the last year of high school actually worked as a typist/stenographer in the summer.

Don't be so silly. If you read the OP and some of the links I've posted, you would see that seniors are the wealthiest group in canada. We have a multitude of programs geared towards this group. If you believe we should be giving breaks to the wealthy, just say so.

....and....do you think owning your own home should be an entitlement to people over 65?

I would agree that young people have it made today if it wasn't for the 100s of billions of dollars of public debt their parents and grand parents left them with. I would be ashamed to look my kids in the eye if I wasn't making an effort to remove that burden from them.

Not to mention selfish, greedy and thieves and liars and disreputable! He's a piece of work alright. -:)

Right on Bluebyrd, you're not always right, but you hit the nail right on the head as far as both seniors and Cannuck is concerned.

Are you still snivelling and whining? Maybe you should get off that golf course and put on some boots and get hustling about 6 A.M. My son earns $80 grand - $100 grand a year in about 6 months in the oil patch, but then he's up about 4 A.M. and works 14 hours a day 7 days a week, sometimes in a -40C wind chill. Of course if you are going to be a pus*y you might struggle to make ends meet. As for quoting Financial Post, I don't think too many of those guys are breaking their A$$ before 9 A.M. For Christ sake grow some balls.

Oh dear. What a strong argument for education.
