My memory is foggy on this... Which President was elected on the (partial) platform of promising to close Gitmo?

Do you recall who that was goph?

Perhaps you may want to click on search to see the links to articles which prove that it is certain members of the Republican party who continually insists on keeping Gitmo open.

I did deplore the actions of what was going on with regard to torture and in some
cases still do. Then I took a look around and I might not feel so bad. First we are
now surrounded in our own country by people who don't give a damn about the
concept of democracy or what the west stands for. We see the methods used as
torture and they are but the methods used by that society against its own people
are far worse and the people having done unto them would advocate for doing
the same if they still had the power to do so.
Coming to a new country has some responsibilities as well as privileges and
some of our new arrivals don't get that they think we should bend to their will and
simply accept their view of the world.
War is brewing and the methods will get worse unfortunately. We talk of some
things done as savage. I agree in some cases however it cuts both ways. Tell me
those savages who attacked the reporters were concerned about anyone's right in
a democracy? If the religion of peace is caught arming or helping the savages to
attack us in the west the whole religion should perhaps be designated a criminal
organization and forfeit their assets like any other alleged criminal organization.
In case you are wondering NO I am not afraid of Muslims I am now pi**ed off we
keep pandering to them. It is time to have those on our side stand up and say so.
It is time our government separate the wheat from the chaff

What does the West stand for, grump?

We see the methods used as

So we should torture them to prove torture is bad?

Tell it to the Indians.

You're terrified of Muslims. Otherwise you wouldn't say stupid sh*t like "we're surrounded" by three percent of the population.

Lol @ those who think waterboarding and sleep deprivation are the worst methods in the CIA arsenal.
