A jury has acquitted a Winnipeg man who argued that he stabbed another man in self-defence because he feared for his life after he was shoved and blasted twice with bear spray.
David Roberts was found not guilty Wednesday of aggravated assault in a 2011 confrontation with Christopher Pate in a quiet central-area neighbourhood.
Court heard Roberts chased Pate’s son down an alley, thinking he had been involved in local car break-ins.
He made a few dumb moves- chasing a kid, people may want to step in.
They say he was thinking,I disagree.
If he thought the kid was involved with all these break ins - see the police.
The father was protecting his son. How would you react? if your son was being chased by an adult?
As to the bear spray the father had - Why he had it I do not know. From what I understand he had no legal right to carry this as he was not hiking in bear country etc.
Roberts was able to clearly stab the man once. Guess the spray did not work well.
