Scientists say unusually warm oceans could lead to death of coral

If ocean temperatures were just warming then coral would simply disappear from an inhospitable environment and reappear in one more suitable further north or south. But the real problem with coral bleaching is the acidification of the ocean. About 40% of all carbon emitted by humans is absorbed by the ocean (and lakes/rivers) and the ph change is an observable affect of climate change we can both measure and see right now.

The changing ph is not just affecting coral but also algae and plankton and the entire food chain of the ocean is in jeopardy.

Of course they are not warming up. Only Fuctard Libtard Dem-dumb effty-lefty ding-dong pinky-pansy limp-wristed college-boy-socialist Obammie-Commies think that people can change the temperature of the oceans. It's a conspiracy.

Sigh.

Fact: The oceans have warmed a 1/3 of a degree Fahrenheit since 1969.
Fact: Warm water expands.
Fact: Combined with other sources such as glacial melt the oceans have risen 6.7 inches in the last century.
Fact: The current rate of rise is now 10x what is was when measured from the 1890s to 2000 now at about an inch per year.
Fact: You have to be pretty goddamned committed to being deliberately ignorant not to know this stuff.

Going down that list it seems we have all those already and we haven't had to redistribute wealth to do it.

I know you're not too big on science and what not but a little correction is in order here: coral are about 550 million years old but even then they were rare and nothing like modern coral. I believe most varieties pretty much went extinct about 250 mya.

Carry on.

So coral has died before man was around as well? I thought only man could kill coral.

Animals, plants, fish, insects, etc have been dying in nature since there was a nature for them to die in. 99+% of all species to ever exist on this planet are extinct through either the process of natural selection, evolution or natural climate change. The difference between now and then is that humankind are destroying the habitat of many of the planet's species through our activities which now take decades and centuries instead of hundreds of thousands or millions of years and while we have the power to make species extinct, we also have the power to save them. One could even argue it is our duty as the dominate species and thereby steward of the planet.

To really dumb it down we are now in the anthropocene. I'm not sure why this is such a difficult concept for many of you to wrap your heads around?

All the limestone on the planet agrees with you and proves you right.

By your logic all the fossil fuels on the planet are made up of extinct species and proves you wrong.

Going down that list it seems we have all those already and we haven't had to redistribute wealth to do it.

You've got to get it out of your head that a clean environment is a wealth distribution scheme. In fact the opposite is true. When manufacturers for example are allowed to pollute a river to build whatnots even though I don't buy whatnots I get taxed to clean that river water for at a minimum....drinking purposes and thus I subsidise the company and the people who buy those products.

Now if you were born in the 60s or earlier I don't care what city you lived in in Canada or the USA you couldn't safely swim in the river without a tetanus shot and as you'd recall......the precise exact arguments you see today from climate change deniers were used by acid rain deniers.

To me the leftards are the ones that tax me to pay to clean up and fix the mess others make. I know you likely won't watch this video but for guests some may find it interesting.

We aren't in the Anthropocene.

Jesus Christ of course we're in the anthropocene. We move more earth now each year than all earthquakes, wind, landslides and erosion combined. Is there even one major river on the planet left undamed? Species are disappearing at the rate of at least one per day. We are changing the ph of the ocean!

Only in you head. Take some Xanax or something for f-ck sakes.

When I review your reasoning, intelligence and critical thinking abilities embodied in your arguments and responses I am beginning to now understand why some of you believe that climate change is a liberal wealth distribution hoax.

BTW, a British study found traces of antidepressants in the processed drinking water. Pfft...not the anthropocene yeah right.
