Solar is probably one of the best options, particularly if govts quit trying to force us to buy it from them or private companies to keep the shareholders happy and allow everyone the freedom to generate as much of their own green energy as needed. Work on battery storage technology for the home so you can more efficiently/effectively store solar power and use it at night. There are also small rooftop wind turbines that can be used. Offer
real incentives for people to build new homes utilizing solar and/or wind power while also providing those incentives for others to convert over to them.
You'd still need some sort of base-load generation providing a general power supply to the grid but that could easily be done without coal or oil.
