That's what fusion power is at this point in our development. We may yet find that it is the safest, most reliable fusion option in spite of the right wing politics that the technology faces. What that will mean is that the rest of the world will pass the USA by while improving this technology ... again.

And Canada won't even be in the game.

Wouldn't want to be. You'd need to build more than one to power a country and having a bunch of little, tiny suns on our planet doesn't sound like a real smart idea.

Curious is right. Solar is probably one of the best options, particularly if govts quit trying to force us to buy it from them or private companies to keep the shareholders happy and allow everyone the freedom to generate as much of their own green energy as needed. Work on battery storage technology for the home so you can more efficiently/effectively store solar power and use it at night. There are also small rooftop wind turbines that can be used. Offer real incentives for people to build new homes utilizing solar and/or wind power while also providing those incentives for others to convert over to them.

You'd still need some sort of base-load generation providing a general power supply to the grid but that could easily be done without coal or oil.

I think more funding and research should be put into Tesla's wireless power technology where you could combine all the power generators around the world into supplying power wirelessly around the world. That way electric vehicles and equipment wouldn't have to depend on batteries truly be Carbon free I would imagine health risks would rise though

Tesla has had to go back to the banks, market, etc on over a dozen occasions for bail-out/refinancing money... with a horrible track record like that, you b better off using this in concert with their tech

Doesn't matter. Other car companies are making huge investments in alternative energy cars.

Sorry if that hurts your feelings.

Shame....you have valid points.

Somehow I think if the money spent on fusion research was used to drill really deep holes in the ground for geothermal we'd be a lot farther ahead. Sometime simpler tech works better.
