We all know that every kid has his own rate of learning so why should we expect a kid with say an I.Q. of 90 to cover and absorb the same material as a kid with an I.Q. of 140? There is absolutely no benefit in pushing a kid ahead who hasn't grasped the basic concepts. How the hell can a kid learn geometry and trigonometry when he/she doesn't know how to add and subtract?
There should be no reason, that any of the adults involved, would not have known his "needs". The problem lies with the teachers and the administration putting their own "needs" ahead of the kids.
and whose fault is it that a child ends up falling that far behind?
Only the brain dead think that.
Really? Hmmmmm....where have I heard that...oh ya.
You have such a flattering way of putting things, Gerry. -
It's high time teachers, parents and children all got back on the same page. The reason a kid goes to school is to learn...............PERIOD. Teachers are not day care providers. If the teacher needs to instill discipline to put the kids in a mood receptive to learn, he/she should be able to do so without parental interference (within the acceptable methods).
