Maybe if he wasn't so backwards on abortion, he'd have a chance.

Ron Paul: 'I'm Trying To Save The Republican Party'

Ron Paul is not only still running for the GOP presidential nomination; he's "trying to save the Republican Party."

"The truth is, I'm trying to save the Republican Party from themselves because they want perpetual wars, they don't care about presidents who assassinate American citizens, they don't care about searching our houses without search warrants, and these are the kind of things people care about," Paul said on CBS' "Face the Nation."

Responding to a question about whether he'd continue running for office, he said, "The votes haven't been counted. ... There's no way I'm going to quit speaking out on this, and there's no way I'm going to give up on the effort to get the Republicans back to their roots."

The Texas representative also criticized the way that Republicans, as well as the Obama administration, have been handling the Afghanistan War.

"It was a waste, there's not gonna be a happy ending, and I think the Republicans have dug a hole for themselves because they're trying to out-militarize the president, say 'we should do more.' Yet 75 percent of the American people say 'we've had enough'," he said.

A recent poll showed that support for the war in Afghanistan has hit an all-time low among Americans. Sixty-eight percent think the war is going badly, and 69 percent think the U.S. should not be involved anymore.

Paul attacked Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich for not offering alternatives to the war.

"The other Republican candidates offer nothing more than a continuation of a status quo or actually increasing the militarism we have around the worst, so I think that's a losing position," he said.

On this issue he makes sense people are fed up with the constant wars they have been fighting
The idea that Syria or Afghanistan could destroy us is silly and for heaven sake the Bush crowd
knew there were no weapons of mass destruction before they went into Iraq. Iran that is a
different story altogether.
America has to understand people on the street want medicare, they want a descent job and they
want educational opportunities for their kids.. They want to afford to buy a home and enjoy the
things they are used to. America has become a consumer pit force fed by credit cards and the
instant gratification that comes with that. Republicans are totally out of touch with reality let alone
the American people. the misfits that are running for office including Paul could not win against
Obama because they are negative obstructionists owned and controlled by the financial houses
that have always controlled them. The difference between the Democrats and the Republicans
is this There are sections of the democratic party that keep the party from completely going over
to the same people who control the Republicans. I do admit the Democrats are more than half
the way there though.

Ron Paul is NOT trying to "save the Republican Party". He is trying to turn the Republican Party into an extremist isolationist party, that is totally Libertarian.

He forgets that the Libertarian viewpoint gets support of no more than 4-6% of the American people at its best.

He also forgets that 2/3 of the people of the American Colonies were against going to war with Britain.. And that was at the HIGH point of it's favor among the general population. For much of the 7 years of the American Revolution, the support was MUCH lower than that.

One would have to be a masochist to try to save the republican party in it's present form.

Answer a perfectly honest question with a question, isn't that a fine way of starting a conversation.
But if you want my opinion,no I do not think abortion is a good thing.
If my parents(mother) had an abortion I wouldn't be here.
Actually nor would any one else on this forum.
Is there times it is warrented? almost certainly.
Do I believe we should legislate it ? That argument is over.
Do I believe I should pay for it? Absoullutly not.
Your turn.

Do you think abortion is a good thing Mentalfloss?

Only in Cases of Rape and Insect.

Other than that, strap on a Johnny or suffer the consequences.

You don't want the child, place them up for adoption.

In a very real sense any nation free of the Imperial influence eventually helps destroy that empire. It has always been the aim of the USA Empire to spread its influence (power) universally (full spec domination), In that regard it must now suffer the consequences of failure to close. It cannot leave any nation free of its control and it must deny the raw resources to conduct war against it to any and all that object and would compete. So every unshackled country is an enemy, real and potential. Any free nation is the bane of Empire.

Right now Dr Paul is a terrifying prospect to the American oligarchy. I very much fear for his well being.

adopted huh?

I was given up for adoption at birth, (birth mother fukked around) so I pretty much feel the same way, abortion has become to easy. I think there has to be personal responsibility, but the world is quickly running away from this idea, trying to fix everything with a pill.
