One thing to remember JLM is that some of the medical treatments used to treat some forms of cancer do cause weight gain . We knew a kid in our town that had a form of brain cancer and he gained a tremendous amount of weight before he died. Who knows what causes this disease but Id be willing to bet that the key lies in discovering the mysteries of our immune systems.
Rob was over weight long before cancer was diagnosed.

Lots of people are over weight. They don't always get cancer especially the rare form this man had.

That is true, life is often a crapshoot, best we can do is try to increase our odds for longevity but there is no guarantee. I believe some of it has to do with 'mind over matter'.

Yes and no. We don't know the cause of Rob Ford's cancer but he definitely had one of the conditions prerequisite to cancer.........grossly over weight!

Horsesh-it. People get cancer who are fitness freaks and not overweight too. People who are overweight to have greater risk of heart disease and diabetes but not cancer.

But please back up your claim with studies if you wish to discuss further (and in a different thread).

Say what we will about Rob Ford, he struck a chord with the 'common people' that is being echoed in the line-ups to sign his book of condolences. I've heard many people over the last couple of days talking about Rob unexpectedly turning up at their doors wondering about their living conditions and what the city could do to help them. Many have also mentioned how he personally returned calls to his office. He was a polarizing figure but his kindness and thoughtfulness will be remembered by those whose lives he touched.

RiP to Rob Ford.

I have to say i had a soft spot for him since he boycotted that stain and embarrassment to Toronto's cultural reputation, the debauched spectacle of the Pride Parade.

Why would I want to discuss it further? I have no first hand personal knowledge, just what several doctors and experts have told me. I've been told there's a correlation between exercise and cancer, and exercise and weight, but personally - unlike you I know nothing about the matter! Just passing on the experts' advice. :) :) (No one is exempt from cancer.)

No you made an assertion which is not warranted or proven and you are unwilling and unable to back up. Your last sentence (in brackets) is true but not what you earlier stated. The rest is hearsay based upon what your memory can recall from various doctor's visits.

No.....................here's my original statement which is correct..............".We don't know the cause of Rob Ford's cancer but he definitely had one of the conditions prerequisite to cancer.........grossly over weight"!
What I didn't say and didn't know at the time was that it's not a prerequisite to ALL cancers!

The whole assertion "he definitely had one of the conditions prerequisite to cancer.........grossly over weight" is fabrication, hearsay and complete b.s. regardless where you think you have heard it. Which was and remains my original point. You are and were talking out your a-s-s.

Something you do a lot of. I listen to medical and dietary experts and perhaps you'd be wise to do the same. In case you weren't aware of it, Rob Ford's type of cancer affects less than 1% of cancer patients. When you can discuss things sensibly and not act like an idiot, I'll gladly continue the discussion! :) :)

Some educational reading for you, so you don't have to act like a bone head in further discussions on the matter. :) :)

"Mayor of Heaven"

NEWSTALK 1010 - IN-DEPTH RADIO :: LISTEN: "He's the Mayor of heaven now" :: News - Article

Rob Ford's 10-year-old daughter Stephanie told the thousands of people watching her father's funeral Wednesday that she knows her dad is in a better place now as "the mayor of heaven."

The little girl was among several people who spoke about the former mayor of Toronto at his funeral at St. James Cathedral on Wednesday afternoon.

The long-time politician's brother Doug Ford and former Ontario premier Mike Harris also shared memorable Rob Ford anecdotes during the service.

During Ford's funeral procession, the sounds of bagpipers drowned out cries and chants from a massive crowd as former aides and relatives carried the casket of former Toronto mayor Rob Ford into St. James Cathedral.
