No it is a fact. Taxes, permits, fees are part of the cost of doing business that is passed on to consumers. As I tried to explain to canuck when these items get too expensive for consumers to accept the business either folds or moves to a lower tax regime, taking the jobs with them. Then when you buy their product you are supporting some other province/country.
The same goes for rich people. Tax them too much and they will move elsewhere, taking their disposable money with them. THis happened years ago in England and is now happening in France. Since governments are not about to cut back on spending any time soon all this does is increase either the debt or taxes for those that are left.
The same thing will happen when wage rates get out of line in an area. Especially with manufacturing. Muscle jobs will go where muscle is cheap. When both labour and taxes are low you will see manufactures flock there. Largely why so much automotive manufacturing has left Detroit/Windsor area.
