Two teams of researchers have extended the reach of quantum teleportation to unprecedented lengths.
The groundbreaking research could be a step towards creating quantum computers and other technology operating at speeds far in excess of current limits.

And while teleporting humans may still be a long way off, researchers believe the latest work is a big step forward.

Interesting. They used to make a copy of one particle in one location and recreate the particle in another location. Now, it seems they really did the teleporting.

If they can do that with one photon, the world's scientific community should soon be able to do it with data streams.

They dont. Even some Star Trek characters raise that issue when they're afraid of the transporter.

Personally I'll side with Dr. McCoy and not use it, assuming i'm even alive when they're able to do it to humans. From what I've read it probably won't happen in my lifetime if at all.

I wouldn't count it out - a lot of things have changed in the last few decades, and the pace of change may be accelerating. I think that, by 2050, we'll be all over the solar system, and, by the end of the century, we'll be heading for the stars.
