What the hell are you talking about I think not? Socialism, the democratic sort, has already prevailed in much of the world.

How many sorts of Socialism are there exactly? Sometimes countries have governments that call themselves 'Socialist,' but they do not carry out genuine socialist policies.

Which falls under the democratic sort? Cuba? Britain? They call themselves socialists but are they?

Actually there's a 3rd view here other than Reverend Blair's or ITN's, and that is while most of Europe and Canada has achieved more of a socialism democracy, all are now coming to terms with how much it costs.

Also Immigrants to all of these countries are willing to work a 18 hour days every day instead of the French 35 hour work week and charge less for their services and will do the job today. Of course there's another set of immigrants that don't want to work except on 3rd world style hours.

This is a story told in the headlines regarding all of the western democracies with all their shades of socialism and capitalism.

What was wrong with Iraq in the first place? You supported him for the longest time and you did not see anything wrong.

Actually U.S. support for Saddam was limited to the years during the Iran war, and was minimal even then. U.S.S.R., France and China were his biggest military supporters.

Common enemies make strange bedfellows. The U.S. had a hate on for the Mullahs (understandably so) so they supported Saddam as a vehicle against Iran. Happens all the time. The U.S. did the same with the mujahadeen in Afghanistan, and Saddam did the same with Hizbollah and Hamas (and some argue Al Qaeda as well).

The US was selling weapons to Saddam at the same time as they were supporting Iraq. CIA ties (including Bush the elder) go back to when Saddam's uncle and Saddam's ties to the CIA have been extensive since before he came to power.

A whopping 0.47% - right up there with Austria and Denmark - those other international bullies. :D

Notice it's all between 1983 and 1988.

I won't comment about the CIA - a couple of double-O-sevens with peashooters and fancy watches don't make or break dictators.
