Reverend Blair said:Gerry, there isn't health worker on the planet that doesn't say that abstinence isn't the most effective protection against HIV/AIDS. Since expecting everybody to remain abstinent is not at all realistic, they promote condom use as the second line of defense.
The Pope (and the US government btw) oppose the use of condoms though. I guess in their insular and bizarre worlds they think that people will abstain if they are told to. They are, by refusing to accept human nature and the effectiveness of condom use, encouraging the disease to spread.

ROFLMAO....and your point is?
The Catholic Church considers the use of condomns to be a sin. Plain and simple. Same with the use of contraceptives. There are only 2 types of contraception that I know of that the Church allows. That would be the rhythm method, and abstinence. That's it. Anything else would be a sin. Now why would the Catholic Church council it's followers or any other of "Gods children" to sin? It matters not if it is considered "unrealistic". The Catholic Church consideres it to be "Gods will and teaching" NOT to use contraceptives for ANY reason. If you or anyone else doesn't like that, then you don't have to be Catholic and you can use all the condoms you want.

Wow...awesome example of Christian compassion there gerry...I sometimes wonder where I get this silly notion that Catholics are a bunch of f**king haters... 8O

Hey dumbass...did you read the article to the end? No of course not, because you're a reactionary twit, who hasn't the sense to know that your religion is founded on hatred, and that your imaginary friend ain't real...
He joined the Hitler Youth aged 14, shortly after membership was made compulsory in 1941.
He quickly won a dispensation on account of his training at a seminary. “Ratzinger was only briefly a member of the Hitler Youth and not an enthusiastic one,” concluded John Allen, his biographer.

Oh yes, practice away...but do be sure to shed at least one tear for the millions that the Catholic church consigns to death...
Reverend Blair said:Letting people die, encouraging a deadly disease to spread, because of a bizarre interpretation of a dusty old book is far less than compassionate. As for your old church, maybe it's time it left the dark ages.
