"Open Question

How many have witnessed racism both overt and subtle in the workplace and how did people react."

I was beaten to a pulp, robbed and left for dead in 1957, in Geraldton by our members of our noble First Nations. Why? Because at that time I was a new immigrant and could not speak English.

Of course, since the attackers were not white, it was NOT an act of racism.

My only sin was that I was alone at a rail road station at night.

Sure, blame the victim!

Is it racism if money's the driving factor?

I wouldn't say racism. I would say robbery.

If a white guy did that to an Asian or Black where I come from regardless of the intent. IE money, relationship, personal. It would be portrayed as a race hate crime by the media to up ratings.

The media and TV shows have played a large part in creating and nuturing many racists, especially in middle class "America". If you grew up as a kid in the 70's 80's and even to some extent the early 90's every Black person on TV was either a thief, robber, drunk/ wife beater, crack addict or homeless (And also spoke like a gangstar rapper regardless of job or location). All Asians were rice/ noodle eating stingy corner store owners that could kick ass at Kung Fu and talked with a horrible accent. The media has played a huge part in creating many racists, as adults we all know these stereotypes are a joke, but they still planted the seeds as a kid.

This is a common practice of Muslim women even in Canada. And we don't have land mines on our streets.

You notice they also wear the burka which has nothing to do with land mines either. These people come here and they will not give up their customs or make any meaningful contribution to Canada other than perhaps paying Income taxes .You will not see them win any Olympic metals for Canada, raise funds for Canadian needy of any kind and in fact chances are you not ever see them sing O Canada .!!Do they make good Canadians ??

This is and has been sorta knawing at my ass ya know It appears you have no use for Muslims going by the posting you made in a JOKE forum.Next - If you knew diddly about landmines, 5 paces, 10 paces behind - you are still dead.

This is an old thread so I thought it "will rise again". A phrase that no doubt would have to be explained to you.

Racism is not evil. Are people that support special rights for First Nations evil? That's a stretch. Misguided perhaps but not evil.

I think it's easy for sheep to just come on places like this forum and call everybody else racist and chauvanist. It's an easy to dismiss their opinion. It's referred to as "ad homynym". It's a way of personally discrediting somebody as opposed to discrediting their claims.

Missed the point - They have rights that are guaranteed under Treaties and if I recall correctly under the Charter.

Treaties are signed between nations. They aren't nations in the true sense of the word. CB (for example) is a Canadian citizen as am I. Can me and my buddies get together, call ourselves a nation and sign a treaty getting the same rights as CB.

Actually, the courts do....what a shame.

Naw, they always screw the metis over even though we should have more rights tha we supposedly have now. They won't even let us hunt. metis were actually the first conservationists in the world. We regulated the bison hunt well over a hundred years ago. We have a proud history and it gets misrepresented by the bastard poachers and corrupt indians on the take.
