Corps are considered entities so I guess that they should also be allowed some of the same bennies too.... So, let's see - roughly 50% of the US population doesn't pay fed taxes... What do ya think about exempting approx 50% of the corps in the States from the same - just to be fair 'n all
GE is already there.

I've heard that before, but there are a myriad of details that would need to also be assessed. GE employs 300,000 people worldwide and 1/2 of that number is in the USA. I'll wager that the sweetheart deals that the US feds made with GE were done so with an eye to prevent all but the corporate HQ jobs from going foreign.

In the end, the numbers speak volumes. GE had sales revenues of 142 billion and their COGS + SG&A amounted to 75 billion.... In all likelihood, that majority of that $75B was spent in the USA on their people and third party contractors.

That said, people can flap their arms about GE getting corp welfare, but with the kind of money they could save by relocating personnel, the corp will look at the options of greater foreign admin, R&D, etc.

The US gvt knows this and I'll bet that the handouts to GE are basically a bribe to keep those 150,000 employees in the US.

I agree. I also think that no corporation should pay tax on their profits. The only fair tax is a consumption tax. The US has the highest corporate tax in the world and the Bamster wonders why it has an unemployment problem.

The gvt has been socializing profits from day one.... Fair's, fair afterall.

50% of the population don't get trillions in subsidies, reliefs, abatements, or shelter a large portion of their income in overseas accounts. But I'll gladly pay more in taxes if I could get all those handouts as well. :)

Are you new to the internet or just this 3 year-old tongue-in-cheek thread?

What we have here you see, is about 3,000 trivial posts about Barry. If ya don't wanna read 'em or they make ya mad, don't come in.

Ya folla?
Nothing post on CC ever makes me "mad." Not even poorly thought out posts like yours. The tread is not about Obama bashing - read the title.

Funny how the Ideologues just jump in to Obama's defence no matter what gaffe he or his staff manage to pull...

It's even funnier that you guys see it as a gaffe, as if public speaking isn't his strong suit.__________________________

Nothing post? Tread?

...anyway

The um, thread is suppose to be fun. Das told us that back on page 1. Perhaps even Chris Crokerish fun ( if you knew Das at all ).

Here's a little update on that fanboy for you:

Chris before:

Chris after:

In case you like a choice. ;-)

Regardless, we are having fun. I am, that is for sure.

Perpetual teleprompting, chin-in-air arrogance, the Reggie Love bodyman-crush, bushpig wife and on and on. Barry can give us a daily chuckle or snort of derision. It's all according to how your boogaloo situation stands, you understand.

Progressives, Obamabots and the easily-offended not so much but that's life in the big interweb son.

Just relieved you aren't mad though.

Only a miniscule fraction of the corps got a piece of that pie and if it would provide you greater comfort, that money could have been eliminated from the start and the people/groups that would have been punished would have been the employee base and the end users.

I know that you're not dumb gopher - but this game of willfully ignoring the important half of the equation is disingenuous.

As per the overseas accounts, that is a direct consequence of the domestic tax policies; monies earned in the USA are fully subject to fed/state/muni taxes... What they do with that asset after taxes are paid is their business provided they work within the laws of the nation.

You forgot Capt that I have indicated on numerous occasions here that taxation was my line of work for 20 years. In those years (many as an IRS agent) I saw many corporations and wealthy elitists take full advantage of legal and illegal tax shelters especially in the period before Reagan closed down the OIO portion of the IRS. All this is very complicated and far beyond what a layman like you is capable of understanding. But if you knew the subject as well as I do, you would realize that the real welfare recipients are the wealthy corporate elites.
