No, he's right. Quebec sucks. Get rid of them.

I've never been there...but I mean really...THAT many french people can't be good.

I think Quebec (and the French) are singlehandedly responsible for like 55% of the world's present problems.

Let them go.

Oh! And culture...well, folks, culture died in the 80's. Get over it. If a nation clings to its past it makes a big statement about thier future. Sitting on your laurels gets you know where. If you see a french man (Quebec or otherwise) kick them in the groin. If you see a french girl...well, steer clear. Hairy armpits suck!

Quebec really really sucks. That smell in Detroit and New Jersey is Quebec's fault.

If they vanished tommorow who would care. Not me, no way.
ALL FRENCH PEOPLE SUCK!

W-K

P.S. Think irony and sarcasm and re-read my post. See if YOU can get it.

hehe, quite funny. You would be amased at how many people, who like to flaut their intelligence, use such argument. Touché mon ami ;)

So far i've visited Montreal twice and I gotta tell you there is not much out there. You got rude, arrogant people running around saying they are on the top of the food chain so bow down to us. With respect to Canada's second language what about it's first?? Who said they are exempt from knowing English??
.

I'm not obligated to learn your crappy language, but guess what, I did. As for you, do you know french?

Oui, je parle un peu le francais. I'm learning your crappy language because I have to move to Montreal. Other then that 80% of Canada does NOT speak French.

This argument is not fair because you are the mod and you obviously favor one side. Absolute bullcrap!

Good for you. As long as you stay in your provinces, keep using your language. But when you venture into ours, learn ours. We don't need to learn it.

And yes, I'm a mod. But that is beside the points we are debating. I only moderate the forums. Thus, I delete spam, and keep the fun clean. ;) And, I shall always favor my own Nation to anyone elses.

You see you're already thinking that Quebec is not part of Canada. Why should your province be exempt from having English it's first language?

Because we speak french! It is our language. The language of the majority in this province.

So what, B.C. has a huge population of Mandarin and Cantonese people. Our airport has more writting in chinese then French, does this mean we should reasses our language requirements and force people to learn it?

To touch basis on my poor experience in Montreal it was simply because at the time I knew not 1 word of French and all the commerçants did not respond to me in English. I bought something they pointed at the cash register instead of telling me! Right after I walked out one of them answered the phone and spoke in English. He even saw my DL so he knew I was out of town.

It matters not since I will have to learn it. Any of you localistes know of good schools that teach French in the Montreal Laval area?

Best_Place_On_Earth, if you go back in history, it's easy to understand why we speak french in Québec and why the other provinces speak english... Why should we give up our language? Do we ask you to give up english and speak another language??

It's not a matter of number, it's a matter of where we come from. That's as simple as that, and we want to keep it. But I think that everybody should speak english too, since it's the most spoken language on earth. It makes things easier when you're travelling around the world...

Would you like it if you were at a restaurant and the waitress could only speak to you in chinese? Not in english? That happened to me more than one time in Montreal, and I refuse that, not because I can't speak english but because I believe that if you work in Montreal you gotta speak french.

About school in Montreal, I'm not sure but I think that you could take french lesson in college or at universities like Université de Montréal. Have a look at their website: http://www.umontreal.ca/english/index.htm

Later!

You truly are an idiot. We, francophones, colonised this place way before any anglophone was even in north America. We have lived here, for over 400 years and maneged to keep our language and our culture. I wish to continue, to not use english in my everyday life. As I'm sure, you are happy, to only use english in your everyday life. But now, you are moving here. So you are expected to learn our language. Nothing wrong with that. If you we're to move to china, would you be bitching because you have to learn mandarin or cantonese?

You still think that you are a sovereign nation but you're not. By your logic we should all learn to speak squamish and inuite languages because they were here first. It was their land but it was taken from them, *cough*cough*. With diversity on the rise in your province I for see your language slowly fading away as your generations become more and more modern.

Btw thanks for the school news I will look into the university/college courses. Thanks.

Our language will never dissapear. Actually, thanks to bill 101, our language IS the language here. It wonM't disappear. And yes, we are a nation. By the definition, we are. The day canada accepts that as fact, is when souvrainty will loose much of its weight.

You are not A nation but PART of a nation. Face it you are a damn separatist but your kind will never have it's way.

Btw what the hell are you doing in Montreal? To my knowledge all the hardcore frenchies are in Quebec City where no one speaks English. Far from home, non?

Your knowledge is very limited. I live on the south shore (to some extent, L'Île-des-Soeurs), a long time bastion of seperatist. We are a Nation not apart of any other nation. We only share this country. Well, "our kind" having its way or not is out of your control.

Harsh words from harsh people. Regardless I am not the topic starter just adding my views. Let's just end this now.

No real need to lock it. Alot of people come in, and add stuff. This is how CC kind of works.
