Quebec Sucks

Well, if you add something smart I'm ok, but don't restart the debate with empty talks that bring this discussion nowhere. That's the point of discussing, to share our point of view and debate it, not to run in circle over and over the same useless talks...

Just my Humble opinion anyway...

Quebec doesn't suck, they whine alot. I've only ever been to Montreal but I really enjoyed my stay there and I hope to visit again soon.

My only bad experience there was trying to find new suppliers. Talked into a couple and spoke with management but they wouldn't speak English to me, while all their employees worked away at English programs on their computer, so I had to take my multi million dollar business back with me. Their loss.

My french speaking abilities were left behind back in high school. Never found any use for it here in BC. Now Manadarin or Cantonese would have been a completely different story. But thank goodness that these two languages are now being offered in the schools.

Each region/province is very different and maybe one day we can appreciate all the diversity that we have and celebrate it.

jeepers creepers some of you need a really good hoot to mellow out. If america is a melting pot, than canada, my country I would consider a salad bowl. What the big deal about people keeping their original identities and flavors. In america people are assimilated into the cultural stew. If you came to canada as a spring onion, the chances here are you could stay a spring onion, without anyone trying to turn you into a tomato or cucumber.

Peapod,

Got any of the good hoot to mellow out? Some people around here do need it and not for their glaucoma either.

Sorry bevvyd, my hooting days are over, gave it up when I moved out of the bus. Right now I think I will make myself a salad after my last post, I got a craving, now if I had hooted it would be a very big salad, bowl size, big wooden bowl. I will settle for the canada standard portion size right now. You are right about the mandrian and cantonese. I myself have learned a few bits and pieces of their languages, nothing makes people happier than an attempt to understand them.

How true Peapod, How true. It can be fun too.

I'm glad to hear you moved out of your bus, VW by chance? Actually I know a few people who have converted some old buses into absolutely gorgeous bus/campers. I could live in one.

Peapod,

I stopped going to Tofino and Euculit (sp?) because it always rains on me.

And I know all about the magic mushrooms, they grow in my backyard. And I'm an island girl so I know all about the field behind Wendy's in Duncan.

Man am I dating myself.

LOL and on the floor to.....the field behind wendy's in duncan was well known in my days of when I was looking to communicate with that peyote overdosed indian trickster don juan a friend of carlos castaneda. Actually I think I just wanted to get high, dumb ass back than.

Not much of a field behind wendy's now...progress has arrived in Duncan. Great little town. Maple bay! outstanding! Cowichan River double awesome! I lived in Duncan on dingwall, not far from your wendy's....to funny.

Well now bevvyd if you live in duncan we will have to meet up at starbucks for a lattie there one of these days, I wander my island any time I can.

In keeping with the thread subject, I also remember from those days a flood of quebecers coming to the island to pick mushrooms. Lots and lots of them...did not speak much english either, it did really matter than, everyone spoke the same language "party time." We had no idea what they were yapping about, and vice versa, but I remember it was all pretty funny, no matter what language was being spoken.

From what I recall they loved it here, many did not want to return to quebec, they had a great appreciation for mother nature as well, they were a good fit. As long as you could point and were fairly good at charades you could communicate, which after all was the point.

Peapod,

Grew up in Shawnigan and have since moved to the mainland. Your right about the field being developed, I think it is now Canadian Tire or something like that. And one of my favorite places to go is Cowichan Bay, Rock Cod Cafe is kinda funky and always excellent food. Never enough seafood in my diet, but when they cook it ohhh so right, dripping in sauce or butter covered in whipped cream cheese or potatoes yummmmmmm.

Bevvyd I was just about to leave and saw you were here!!! Have to say hi to an "island girl". Bet you miss the place. oh ya I know about the rock cod cafe. Been there many a times, did you know the orginial owner had to give it up, he refused to pay GST in any way shape or form. A rebel he was! Made darn good fish and chips to. Shawingan lake, very nice spot to grow up in. I grew up in Port Alberni, so I guess that makes me a red neck  not as bad as the cumberland gang tho

Yes duncan has changed alot, but its still a nice little town. So if you knew about the duncan field, did you know about the farmers field in Qualicum? The good old days!

No I didn't hear anything about Qualifcum fields. Never got past Wendy's and a few fields in behind. We did try around Shawnigan but you need good "shite" man to have them little puppies grow. But I never did like them as a teenager. Tried once, hated it, thought I could make money picking. Wrong on that one.

But we are dating ourselves aren't we?

So the guy wouldn't pay the GST huh? Did he know he doesn't actually pay it, the consumers do. Hey he wasn't the guy in the newspaper who showed up for a meeting with Revenue Canada with all his 50's records and comic books (books and records). I can't remember who this guy was but he sure sent the GST department for a loop (I was there).

It's great to see and hear from someone on the island, redneck. (teehee)

bevvyd,

But we are dating ourselves aren't we?

Not really bevvyd, the mushroom craze was around for awhile! We were the later comers  Can't say I enjoyed it much myself, never tried to make any money at it, left that to quebecers. The stuff was way to out there, expanded the grey cells just a little to much. The last time I did some we were all camping at miracle beach. My cousin had fanagled her dads silver streamlined trailer, there is a name for them, can't remember what it was. Anyway a few mushrooms later, and the dam thing turned into a toaster. I mean it! right in front of my eyes a giant toaster, there was no way I was sleeping in that thing. That was pretty much it for me, god get me off this stuff and I will never do it again. He did and I kept my word!. "shite man" that good, I forgot what made the little suckers grow!. There was alot in the farmers field in qualicum, whole lot of shite happening there. Does anybody even pick them anymore? I have not heard anything about them in years. You can make money picking pine mushrooms, the japanese will pay a hundred dollars a pound for those puppies. I know a few people that make a nice living doing that. To much climbing for me.

I would not be surprised if the rock cod guy did show up at revenue canada with records and comic books, it sounds like his style, he was a colourful person. Its to bad he had a great restaurant and a great idea.

Well now every time I go up island and pass the shawingan lake turnoff I will think of you bevvyd.

Redneck from Port Alberni

Avant de parler du français qui est là pour rester, tu devrais peut-être apprendre à l'écrire correctement, il y a des anglophones ici qui écrivent mieux le français que toi...

Must be another frustrated kid who got his member card of the PQ and couldn't even give you one good reason why he think Quebec should separate except the "fact" that the mean english people are torturing us, poor french people, it's almost like Auschwitz here in Quebec!!! PLEASE, help us! Send money to help us!!
