Minority Observer 84...................
My own personal purpose is helping people that is what i do and what i'am training to do as a career , I get great personal pleasure from assisting people.......______________________________________

I think that is a great career.Helping others you are learning allot about yourself.Without knowing yourself there is no reason for any kind of purpose .

China Prove that there is a purpose to life____________________

There are many people who will give you the purpose of life, M O 84 ; they will tell you what the sacred books say. The political group will have one purpose, the religious group will have another purpose, and so on and on. So, what is the purpose of life when you yourself are confused? When I am confused, I ask you this question, "What is the purpose of life?" because I hope that through this confusion, I shall find an answer. How can I find a true answer when I am confused? Do you understand? If I am confused, I can only receive an answer that is also confused. If my mind is confused, if my mind is disturbed, if my mind is not beautiful, quiet, whatever answer I receive will be through this screen of confusion, anxiety, and fear; therefore, the answer will be perverted. So, what is important is not to ask, "What is the purpose of life, of existence?" but to clear the confusion that is within you. It is like a blind man who asks, "What is light?" If I tell him what light is, he will listen according to his blindness, according to his darkness; but suppose he is able to see, then he will never ask the question, "What is light?" IT IS THERE.Similarly, if you can clarify the confusion within yourself, then you will find what the purpose of life is; you will not have to ask, you will not have to look for it; all that you have to do is to be free from those causes which bring about confusion. What are these causes Minority Observer 84 ?

"There is surely nothing other than the single purpose of the moment. A man's whole life is a succession of moment after moment. If one fully understands the present moment, there is nothing left to do, and nothing else to pursue."

Very true ,Can you tell me what that purpose is?

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]As a cloud hurried by the winds across the valley so is man wherever he be, hurried along through life. Man has no fixed purpose, man has no understanding of the meaning of life, but is as the clouds that have no resting place, that are chased from valley to valley, that have no quietude, no tranquillity, no peace. Man has no goal. He is blind to the purpose of life and there is chaos and disintegration in him and hence in the world.

You must first define the moment. What is the moment?

My purpose in life is to 'wake up each morning with eagerness, happiness, look forward to the day, don't waste a moment of it, have energy, use it, show love, accept love, be kind, be smart, stay
healthy, learn.

Not deep, no fancy words, pretty simpley said, that's me.

Dear tallola , It's hard if not impossible to describe anything by using any kind of words ;simple or "fancy" or whatever other kind . .After all a word is not what it describes- if you know what I mean .

...But the true self resides in the region of pure action, so to attain to that self, to find out pure action, you must go through the process of reaction, of likes and dislikes, joys and pleasures, sorrows and great ecstasies, and gradually eliminate all reactions, till you arrive at your own dwelling-place,from which you act, but where there are no reactions. This is the purpose of life .Hows your meditation?

Self-control can't even overcome diarrhea let alone death but if oblivion's the destination to start I suppose its as good a place to start as any.

Realization / awareness, has nothing to do with "self control"'.

John Lennon got it right when he said if we did not have religion we would truly have peace on earth.

Yes, I agree, it has created so many big bumps along the road of life over the generations, and
will continue to do so. The intolerance of the religious extremists causes much harm, and it is
many religions who are guilty.

Who says there has to be a purpose to life? Do trees have a purpose, do horses, do fish, do rocks?

What a silly and childlike question, to think there must be a purpose to things! Kids are teleological, they think things have purposes, usually to do with themselves, the little narcissists - but grownups are supposed to know better.

Hello I am a new member in this discussion, but I want ti suggest to you this link which is talking about the meaning of life.
http://www.kab.tv/eng/?item=151
Thanks

Within five minutes, I'd pretty much written off the video. To say that man progresses along a solid line, desiring things only in stages, is so absurd that I really didn't need to waste any more time after that. money, honor, power, knowledge... only once these things have failed to fulfill us will we seek spirituality? The notion is so absurd it baffles me. To think that someone wouldn't be seeking all these things in unison, seeking fulfilment from all areas and facets at once, would be to assume that humanity is ridiculously narrowminded.
