Northern Ontario,
The headline reads PROMINENT DEMOCRATIC CAMPAIGN TREASURER ARRESTED BY FBI
What's wrong with that headline??? I underlined treasurer just so some folks wouldn't feel slighted.....;-)

It is the way the headline is displayed. A better line would have been a prominent campaign Treasurer
has been arrested. In the opening paragraph in the body of the story could have clarified the story by
saying the Treasurer who happens to be a Democrat, stole from members of the party and the party
itself, that would have brought some integrity to the story. The Democrats weren't stealing the Treasurer
who was a democrat was stealing. It is not the headline its the connotation of the headline.
It is like always identifying with Chavez in some negative light before proceeding with the story
The reason nothing Chavez could do would be right. The fact is, he gave the poor the vote something
that didn't happen before he came to power. All those poor people had a voice and they have used it
like Chavez or not, he is a legitimate President.
The same holds true in the campaign treasurer\s case. Its not a big deal its just that I question the way
it was put forward. Probably because I spent a lot of years in the media and watched a lot of headlines
go by. The headline and the story do not flow.

I'm sure Grumpy will show the same unbiased outrage whenever there is a headline unfavorable to the Republicans (U.S.) or Conservatives (in Canada).........;-)
Bias is something that everybody has. If anyone tells me that they are unbiased and completely objective I tend to think two things, one, that they are lying to me and two, they are likely lying to themselves as well. I try to never lie to myself.

We all let our bias show from time to time and we can all easily spot the bias in others views. I like to think that's because we tend to notice, or be more sensitive to (note: not overly sensitive to-that's a whole different ball of wax) issues and topics that we are more personally connected to but it doesn't necessarily mean we don't agree, on principal, with a broader scope of an arguement or issue. We maybe just need to take a step back once in a while. At least that's something I've noticed about myself.

Northern Ontario,
I find it disingenuous (trying to stay nice) of some to pretend to be neutral and go so far as to pontificate over the rest of us humans who take sides on just about everything.....then when you realy look at what they write you find yourself wondering if they are not left of Lenin....Politicaly speaking;-)

Pleads guilty...Campaign treasurer admits she stole $7 million

Kinde Durkee, once a trusted treasurer to dozens of California Democrats, pleaded guilty in the biggest campaign embezzlement case ever to hit U.S. politics.
In a federal court in Sacramento, Durkee admitted to stealing more than $7 million from roughly 50 clients during an 11-year period from Jan. 2000 to Sept. 2011.

Durkee, 59, was charged with five counts of mail fraud, and federal prosecutors will recommend a sentence of 11 to 14 years. Durkee is scheduled to be sentenced in June.
Federal officials said Durkee’s motivation was simply “greed.” Durkee used the millions she stole from lawmakers such as Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) to pay for a variety of personal expenses, including mortgage payments, American Express bills, her mother’s retirement home, payroll for her company, even tickets to the Los Angeles Dodgers and Disneyland.

She just entered a "Guilty" plea and now the Cal DNC is asking for Mercy for her. I'm sure they'd like to find the money and where it is squirreled away at. This isn't unusual for this state. Politicians are caught with their hands in the Money jug weekly. Then their peers come to their aid. It takes a thief to recognize another one!
