Prince George topped the list of Canadian cities with the highest crime rates, according to an annual survey released Thursday by Maclean's magazine.
The magazine said a 77,000-person city claiming the top spot is a "shameful reflection" of the fact that Canada's most violent cities are located in the country's North and West.
People aren't aware of the continuous very high un-employment in the BC Interior. In places like Prince George, it can be 20% or more out of work every fall winter and spring. More people can go to work in the various bush activities in the summer. But in the rest of the year there are so many without work, UIC and Welfare prop up so may folks, whole neighbourhoods there. We have as a society failed in making a real economy in the Interior, it has not worked. We can't seem to find a way of colonizing our province with sustainable employment in most of the Interior.
