How much of that is because of misinformation, mrmom? If I remember correctly it was the provincial Liberals that wanted it originally, but now they are backing away from it because they like being in charge.

Your press in BC is among the worst in the country for being owned by a small group of people who are promoting their political agenda.

The major tv station Global BC and the major daily rags are all owned by the same group. It is sickening and that group loves Campbell and that is why this issue is not getting any press, o think.

I question Murray's appointment to that too, but the way the Conservatives go after him is brutal. They really hate him. I watch a lot of committee things on CPAC and they go after Murray harder than anybody.

I don't think it would have mattered much who they put in there, Rev...as far as I'm concerned, the Liberals are just doing token gestures with regard to Kyoto anyway...I don't believe they really care whether they meet the goals or not, and would prefer not to piss off their corporate sponsors by pushing Kyoto forward...

...as I've said before, Liberals are just Conservatives in cheaper suits...

This where the conservatives just don't get it, the canadian people do not want to go war in Iraq. Most of us believe that it is wrong. They do not listen to what the majority want.

The Liberals are very much that way, especially the Martinites. The corporate resistance to Kyoto is major. They want the profits from the new technology, especially the government research money, but they want to keep all their fossil-fuel related profits too.

I think the suits line was Vanni's, mrmom. I only wish it was mine. :)

It isn't just Iraq. It's BMD and SSM and Kyoto and more integration with the US and drug laws and a bevy of other issues. It seems every time I see a Conservative politician they are talking about a "silent majority" that only exists in their fantasies, or mumbling about how they don't believe in polls. Then they act all hurt when they lose yet another election.

The recent attempts to paint them as being more mainstream since their convention are a joke. They are the same party that was out of step with the Canadian people last year and five years ago and five years before that.

They know it too...that's why they are always going after scandals instead of discussing issues.

A leader does not need to take polls before making a decision. A politician floats on the currents of public opinion. Sadly, we have too many of the latter.

They own most of the print media on the coast don't they no1?

Pretty well. The own the Vancouver Sun and Province , National Post and numerous local rags that come out 2 or 3 times a week, they own CH in Victoria, Global BC (which is the most watched newscast in Canada at 6 pm and always in the top 10 usually top 5 in Vancouver/Victoria according to Nielsons) and they own Canada.com as well.

We really need some fresh blood out here.

Chuck Cadman is well liked out here so he will more than likely get re elected in my neighbouring riding as an Independant. Incidentally the Conservative candidate finished a distant 4th in that riding last time.
