That's obviously not me. My hair is shorter.
Canucks have been doing pretty bad this past week. One nothing right now in the Calgary game. I hope they keep it up and win tonight. Not so sure.. The Canucks are on a good run and Luongo is looking good..
Of course the Play Offs are always a new season and anyones odds are really as good as the others..
hmm I should be making money here :lol:i say , in to the playoffs by the skin of thier teeth and out in 4 games
If there was ever a demonstration of a small team being beaten by a bigger team, it was the Montreal/Boston series. They continually lost battles on the boards and they were always being out-muscled for the puck. I think with all the free agents the Habs are going to lose come July, they will almost have to start again, and that is not a bad idea. It's going to take them at least another four years to rebuild that team but I can't see any other way.
Quebec needs another hockey team. Quebec city should get its Nordiques back.

Why didn't quebec and winnipeg support the teams they had in the first place,
and they would still have them, it's too late fore the whining now, no one
would step up, when the cost was a zillion dollars cheaper, so why would they ever
do it now, when it's so expensive. I am dissapointed in both of them, as we
could still have two more teams in canada, if they hand't 'cheaped' out.
Which ponts out a couple of problems the main one being players' salaries at a criminal level. All players should be cut back to $250,000 a year maximum and then if they win a Stanley Cup they get a raise to $500,000. Minnesota lost their team years ago (to Dallas) but got another franchise a couple of years later. Never could figure out why it didn't work with the North Stars yet does with the Wild. I don't really care if Quebec City gets another team but I think Winnipeg should just because of the tradition that hockey was the game of the Canadian prairie and I think it still should be able to work there. But it never will while players are paid $14 million a year.
No player makes 14 mill a year. The cap is based on profits of the league,
and if the profits drop so will the cap, then the gen. mgr. fits all the salaries
into that cap, and salaries will drop to some degree over the next while,
as it is hard to fit them all into the cap, and the cap is expected to drop a
little over the next two years.
If players salaries were cut way back, so should the profits be cut back,
wouldn't want to see the players treated like they were back in the forties
and fifties, no different than companies who used to rip off their workers,
that was criminal and greedy back then as well.
The players association protects players from greedy profit hungry owners, just
as a union will for their workers, and sure we know that both can be selfish,
but that is human nature, and has to be worked out, when bargaining.
I think you will see a few of the 'top' end contracts cut back a little over the
next two years, as the g.m's can't fit everyone inside the cap, and that is also
why gm's are putting many very young players right into the nhl, cause it keeps
the salaries down, as they have to play on a 'entry level' contract for two years,
when they first come into the league, and they're finding out, that with this
new fast skating game right now, those young players can do it.
When the salaries went up quite a bit over the last 10 years or so, it wasn't
the players fault, it was the competitive nature of the general managers,
trying to outdo each other to get players, they pushed the salaries up, then
the next one would do it, then the next one, and on it went.
When a player is an unrestricted free agent, he can take whatever contract
he wants, if he is good enough, and has offers from many g.m.s, so, that is
no different than any of us, we would go where it is best for us.
The g ms have no sense of ethics when it comes to 'winning'. They want what
they want, and will do what they can to get it.
I just threw "14" out there Talloola to make a point of the obscene salaries- sometimes I exaggerate slightly................:lol:

Back then Bettman didn't have revenue sharing like they do now. Look at Phoenix for example. They are losing tons of money yet Bettman does not want to either relocate them or fold them. He would rather the other teams pay out of their pockets to keep them around. If he had done this when Winnipeg and Quebec were floundering then they might still be around. His anti-Canadian bias is staggering(he would not want a team to relocate to Canada yet he wouldn't mind if a team went to Kansas). He is one of the worst things that has ever happened to the NHL.:angryfire:
