Yes I am in the same way you are. The RCMP had a number of ways to address this. But political correctness, backwoods attitude, Official Govt attitude toward grass as a treatment prevented them from using what the good Lord gave them. Their brain.

I stretched what exactly?

How is it stretching to answer the question? "Would this apply to other meds?" Yes, it would. It also applies to other smoking btw.

Veteran RCMP officer stripped of his uniform for publicly smoking medical marijuana in his red serge | National Post

RCMP spokesman Sgt. Greg Cox said officers under the influence of mind-altering drugs, such as marijuana, OxyContin or Dilaudid, were barred from performing operational duties “including carrying a firearm or operating a police vehicle, as this could pose a risk to themselves, a co-worker or the public. “

Point- BS statement - all drugs used for PTSD are mind altering- A risk to society- really-

Justice Minister Peter MacKay condemned New Brunswick Cpl. Ron Francis, saying the display “sets a poor example for Canadians.”

“My observation is the same as for politicians, police: they fall in a similar category in the sense that it sets a very poor example to flout the law,” he said.

Point
- Peter Mackay- What a voice of wisdom and honesty.

Maintiens le droit eh.

Cpl. Ron Francis legally smokes marijuana daily while on duty to treat post-traumatic stress disorder

A Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer with a medical marijuana prescription thinks he should be able to smoke the drug while in uniform

Post him to Stewart RCMP, and tell him he can smoke pot when on the side of the American border when deputized by the Sharif of Haider insolong as he leaves his badge and uniform behind.

It's not just about being PC. It's about the fact that these officers are going out and arresting people on marijuana charges, while one of them sits and smokes it in uniform.

They are not allowed to drink, smoke cigarettes, and any other behaviour 'unrepresentative' of the RCMP, while in uniform. He has every right to his meds, but that doesn't mean he can take them in uniform, in public. End of story.

I don't feel it's so much about 'embarrassing the employer'. The fact of the matter is, as RCMP, or police officers of any sort, you are artificially 'above' other people. You have control over their lives. So, naturally, people watch you very closely, and look for any excuse to denounce your actions. It's about being above reproach, and not having to explain yourself. It's a factor of the career he chose, and I find myself very unsympathetic to him crying about it.

I can see that and also agree now. How well did the RCMP handle this?
Why is an Officer subjected to further medical approval that Joe Blow Public is not?
Political Agenda.

I don't even know if 'medical marijuana' is legal in Canada.

If it is its a capitulation to Quack science.. with absolutely no objective scientific evidence that supports it. Specifically in double blind tests that measure therapeutic amounts of THC against objective standards of remediation... administered in pure form by conventional methods.. orally (by pill), intravenously or by patch.

Smoke contain dozens (more than 60 unique to cannibis) of tars, contaminants, and other potentially toxic substances, some that are likely carcinogenic or dangerous to health (especially the heart and lungs).

This 'officer' obviously just wants to get stoned all the time and payed for it. He should quit the force and join a hippy commune or something.

He is subject to review to see if it IS a political agenda being pushed by him, or if this is legitimately the medical route he needs to take.

I know one does not have to get high to benefit from many of pots advantages. In fact I use it without getting high. So how do I feel about a cop being stoned on the job? I don't like that idea at all. I don't think anyone should be driving a car when stoned, we know his judgment would be skewed, would they allow a cop who is high to carry a gun? Really ?

He is on administrative duty, as any officers on prescription pain killers would be, or any officer suffering form PTSD to my understanding. His medication is not putting the public at risk. The only issue is him smoking it in public in his uniform.
