Perhaps not to your satisfaction (and you are free to believe what you like), but I have, to my satisfaction. Let me recap. Bible says the following:

Love thy neighbour; Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. These are opposites. If not exact opposites (like clean and unclean, or belief and unbelief for instance), at least opposite in spirit.

Death to homosexuals and the golden rule (do unto others as you wish them unto you) are opposites, again in spirit, if not in letters.

To condemn homosexuals, fornicators to Hell (as Bible does) and then to say ‘judge not lest thou shalt be judged’ are exact opposites.

Now, it is quite possible you may be able to somehow wiggle out, claming that they are not really opposites, or they are quoted out of context, that one has to look for the broader meaning, whatever. But the point is, they are opposites.

Indeed, when Mother Teresa, Jimmy Carter on one hand, and Savonarola, Torquemada on the other claim to be Christians, it is clear that Bible has to be made of opposites. Individuals more opposite in outlook, deed or belief cannot be imagined.

If you can't supply chapter and verse, then you are just talking out your a$$. From what I have seen so far, with those that bash religions and those that believe, that is where most of their speech comes from. So......if you're not willing to back up what you are saying...then........

Yes they are. Unfortunately for you, the bible also says the old covenant (Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live) has been replaced with the new (Love thy neighbour). Only people that don't know the bible or are deliberately picking and choosing which passages to accept or ignore see this contradiction you speak of. Since this has been pointed out to you, one can only assume you fall into the latter camp. As I've said, you are no different than the witch burners or the televangelists. I'm sure you're proud.

If you read everything attributed to Jesus (one of those bibles with everything he supposedly said in red ink) and then read everything written by Paul, you will find contradictions up the yin yang. Then you can read all the horrors that JC is going to bring down on people who don't kiss his butt in Revelations. That should keep you busy for a while.

Although I have read the bible several time, I am not one of those lunatics that memorizes every verse so I can quote it ad nausium like some bible thumpers.

Try this little list: SAB Contradictions

Most of them are fairly trivial, but many do have significant implications for Christian dogma.

Cliffy, Gerry is not interested in chapter and verse; he is in it just for abuse and insults. I have said it several times before, if Fundamentalists like him abuse, insult people, they get extra brownie points with their God. They pile up chips in the Heaven if they insult and abuse people in this world.

So why would I supply him with chapter and verse? Let him think what he wants.

Sure there are plenty of contradictions the Bible. If I could pull out three of them right of the top of the hat, there probably are several more. Incidentally, it is the same thing with Koran.

Whether it is Gerry beating people over the head with the Bible or eanassir beating people over the head with Koran, there is no difference. Religion based hatred is the same everywhere, whether by Christians by Muslims or by anybody else.

Then you can read all the horrors that JC is going to bring down on people who don't kiss his butt in Revelations.

Indeed. At its basis, the message of the God of the Bible and the God of the Koran is the same. Do what I tell you, or I will kill you and torture you in Hell for eternity.

Kinda makes you wonder what kinda sado-masochists would want to believe that nonsense. There is no way they can live up to their own idealism, so they are all bound for hell. And if they think they know the exact spot on god upon which to plant your kiss to guarantee their ticket to heaven, they would have to be completely delusional. Too bad they closed most of the asylums. It would be such a big business that the economy would not have tanked.

It's hard to tell if those are real contrdictions or just apparent contradictions used as some sort of interest instilling gimick to drive book sales. It does need some editing though, there is lots of sex and war and action to work with, I bet Speilbrick could do something with it.

I am not sure it matters here whether the contradiction is real or apparent. Even if the contradiction is apparent, somebody is sure to take it as real, and act upon it. The practical effect is the same in either case.

Thus, medieval witch hunters were convinced that both Love thy neighbour and Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live are the diktats by the Bible. So I am sure they loved their neighbours. But at the same time, they also burned witches.

So even if some Biblical scholar claims that the contradiction is only apparent, what is the difference? At least some people are going to act on what is said in the Bible, which makes the contradictions very real.

They don’t want to, Cliffy. They want others to live by the idealism, but they themselves are exempt form it. How many examples of hypocrisy abound in Fundamentalist, conservative sphere both here and in USA? Let me list just a few.

Rush Limbaugh (drug addiction), Newt Gingrich (extramarital affairs, also Gingrich and Limbaugh combined have six divorces between them), Bill O’Reilley (sexual harassment), Bill Bennett (gambling), Senator Larry ‘wide stance’ Craig, Ted Haggard, Jimmy Swaggart, the list is literally endless.

These Bible thumpers don’t expect to live by their own idealism. They expect you and me to live by their idealism.

You're right, for the most part they are very trivial. I only bothered with the NT ones since the OT ones don't really concern me since I am not Jewish. For the most part I would say that the contradictions are more along the lines of misquoting by the author, or another perspective between the authors. The meanderings of paul of tsarsis don't interest me in the least, ESPECIALLY "revelations".
