I don't understand why this has to be said over and over...

Comply.

Resisting always ends badly, full stop.

yet you think society would be better if they were the only one's with guns. :p

As this video shows, you don't need guns..... and if the cops decided to pull their guns on the crowd and shoot.... chances are they'd be picking up the peices of these cops across the field due to even more people coming in and tearing them apart.

You'd be surprised what a little bit of someone elses grey matter on your face, may cause you to rethink.

Compliance doesn't always work well either though. When some db gets his testosterone up and wants to flex his authority, lying flat on the pavement just makes you an easier target.

From a guy that has probably never been in so much as a school yard shoving match....lol

Ever try to control a full-grown man without seriously injuring him? I don't mean just hold him down, I mean move him somewhere.......because holding him down can easily kill him.

It ain't easy, it always takes more than one person, and the first essential thing you do is get the cuffs on him.

Now, I would not swear in a court of law that this guy was NOt being abused...

But my educated GUESS is that these cops were just doing their job.

After taking the guy to the ground, did it ever occur to them to simply talk to the guy and tell him it would be in his best interests to get up peacefully and walk off the field with them, rather then just skip that part and use force?

I always thought using force was one of the last options to use..... kind of like Robert Dziekanski...... they couldn't be bothered to be reasonable, take some time out of their day and try to difuse the situation, so they tasered him and killed him.

"some"...

Only once, in all my years of being in contrary to the law, was I ever "assaulted" by an Officer, when I was compliant. I think it was a combination of her anger (The false charges sworn out against me were pretty severe) and the fact that I'm not small, and she was. She wanted to make a statement and an impact.

I've been arrested more times than I care to remember, even once right in the middle of an assault. As soon as I realized it was an Officer that had my shirt collar. I backed down and complied. His raised night stick, lowered and I was cuffed without incident.

We get to critique these encounters, as few and far between as they are, with 20/20 hindsight. What we don't get to see are the hundreds of thousands of arrests, that go down without so much as a hiccup. That's starting to jade peoples perceptions.

I would have emptied my pistol into the crowd coming at me.

That's why I could never be a cop.

If anyone is gong home to dinner, it will be me.

I understand that'd be a first reaction, to try and protect yourself in such a situation.... but after you ran out of bullets, I'd say they'd have a hard time identifying your body.

But at least if you were going down, you'd take a few people with you..... that was always my motto..... which is why I'm also not a cop. :p

might be chubby, but I'm quick.

Mob mentality tends to cancel that out..... just look at what happens in some of those 3rd world countries.
True, and most soccer fans have the capacity of a gnat, so ya, you're likely right.

Yes, I don't mean 'all' by any means. I know police officers, love and respect them, they're my family. BUT, what I spoke of is a very real issue, and one that can't be ignored, because it (as wolf's pointed out numerous times and I don't want to seem to steal his words) paints a target on ALL cops because of a few rammy ones lacking in discipline.
