Everybody knows Gregor is a nut job who got elected on looks by Vancouver gays.

Christie is going to have enough on her hands especially as Gregor Robertson has been very very vocal in his anti-Kinder Morgan stance.

Rachel Notley is beaming.............just beaming................happy for the folks in Alberta - about time some goods news went there way.

It's just as vital for SK as it is AB.

Gregor is very popular with all the Left Coast folks who live in a bubble and think that Gaia will provide for all if we just leave her the hell alone...............and there are a lot of them.

And you can put money on the fact that all the FNs will be flocking to his side too............it's really all about photo ops, don't you know.

Coastal FN chair ecstatic about NG and tanker moratorium.............but is smart enough to leave any remarks about Kinder Morgan up to the Coast Salish.

NG is BCs future. Don't you see the BC Gov ads saying we are saving Asia from themselves to the tune of 330 Million tonnes a year?

All while selling them coal.

He is losing his favour. Looks can only carry you so far.

One can only hope, pete but .......... he's an opportunist, like all pols, and will see this announcement as a way to get some lift under his falling star.

Sorry, I was writing about Northern Gateway - not natural gas, pete.

No, I don't pay any attention to government ads.

Oops............there you go, Gregor just released a statement about his 'disappointment' in the Kinder Morgan decision

Moratorium on crude oil tanker traffic...............will introduce law to make that binding

I applaud the government on this decision............took them long enough but in the end they got it right.
Moratorium on tanker traffic in northern waters , while allowing more tanker traffic in the more crowded and environmentally sensitive southern waters . The moratorium on northern water's traffic will do nothing to stop or slow Alaskan North Coast oil tankers plying our waters .

Solar powered war canoes .

Well they are all on full display today............if you are interested, catch the replay of Power Play on CTV.........she has an total meltdown on the show............the look on the faces of Don and the others is priceless. Someone needs to take her aside and advise her to shut the hell up. She is a member of Canada's parliament. She has a responsibility and duty to the people of Canada to act like one and not some wigged out ecowarrior princess.
Not to the people of Canada so much as her constituents .

152 coal cars heading to Roberts Bank held me up this morning , I didn't count the engines that could .
I wonder how many mountains go by each day ?

This is true, pgs.............however a compromise was necessary and this was it. Instead of taking to the streets in protest, the ecofreaks should be taking to the classrooms and laboratories in search of new technology that will ameliorate the consequences of an oil spill. As the PM was finally honest enough to state, we are not going to be a fossil fuel free economy for the foreseeable future. The oil will flow. Pipelines have proven to be by far the safer method of transport.

Not to the people of Canada so much as her constituents .
The behavior of any one member of the Parliament of Canada most especially if it is criminal behavior reflects on the entire assembly.

The Canada Elections Act states that:

Any person who is convicted of having committed an offence that is an illegal practice or a corrupt practice under this Act shall, in addition to any other punishment for that offence prescribed by this Act, in the case of an illegal practice, during the next five years or, in the case of a corrupt practice, during the next seven years, after the date of their being so convicted, not be entitled to
(a) be elected to or sit in the House of Commons.

Here’s what House of Commons Procedure and Practice says:

If convicted of an indictable offence, a formal resolution of the House is still required to unseat a Member… When there has been a criminal conviction, the House of Commons has acted only when sufficient evidence against a Member has been tabled (i.e., judgements sentencing the Member and appeals confirming the sentence).

She needs to take a deep breath and step back for a bit.

Western oil comes to the eastern coast or we come and get it the crude way. Yer thinnly populated provinces of mostly gullable packs of Monsanto mutants anyway, we,ll just take it for our fleets and fish plants and hot-tubs.

Vancouver mayor’s national profile on the rise in pipeline debate

VANCOUVER — The ever-simmering world of pipeline politics is once again threatening to boil over after the federal government approved the Trans Mountain project, as both backers and critics of the polarizing proposal mobilize for what many predict will be a fierce and lengthy battle.

While a litany of local politicians, First Nations and environmental groups have come out in opposition to Trans Mountain, some observers predict Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson will emerge as a key figure in the fight to block the $6.8-billion initiative.

The Kinder Morgan project involves expanding an existing pipeline between Edmonton and Burnaby, a city that borders Vancouver.

The move would triple the line’s capacity and lead to a sevenfold increase in tanker traffic along a heavily populated section of the B.C. coast.

Karen Mahon, national director of Stand.Earth, said Robertson’s business background and green credentials add valuable credibility to a cause some dismiss as ideological.

“He understands the importance of the natural world, deeply, and holds it close to his heart,” said Mahon.

“But he’s a businessman. A lot of his life work is about how to meet our economic realities while protecting our natural resources and our children’s inheritance.”
