Trudeau 'satisfied' with Stephen Bronfman's explanation after Paradise Papers leak

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he's satisfied with the explanation top Liberal fundraiser Stephen Bronfman gave after coming under fire for his ties to an offshore trust in the Cayman Islands exposed in the Paradise Papers.

Bronfman insisted Monday that he "has never funded nor used offshore trusts."

His statement made no mention of his Montreal-based investment company Claridge Inc., which documents show had close business ties with the Cayman Islands-based Kolber Trust.

In his response to the leak of tax haven records, Bronfman said he had no "direct or indirect involvement" with the trust other than an arm's length loan made "over a quarter century ago" that was repaid five months later.

Speaking to reporters in Hanoi, Vietnam on Wednesday, Trudeau said he accepts Bronfman's public assurances that he has followed all the rules

Of course he is .
Not only that but he said it in a way that the rest of us shouldn't concern ourselves about it.

I cant help but think of the outcry if Conservatives were responding like this...........

It sounds like they feel they are at the point where no explanation is really needed.

Good enough for a liberal.

You mean a LIEBERAL.

Not only that but he said it in a way that the rest of us shouldn't concern ourselves about it..

Not thinking about things is the bestest Lieberal way.

No explanation is needed, indeed, how dare any in the media ask the question in the first place ?

Coming from a far left, deep blue, Democrat Liberal state I see this all too often. Whenever a liberal judge makes a ruling, our politicians pass a bill or tax, etc and there is an uproar from us 35%-40% they simply roll their eyes. What are we going to do... vote them out? lol

I have actually been kinda impressed with them the last couple of months running some pretty unbiased news articles criticizing the Lib. Gov.

They've always been willing to criticize Liberals. I've seen and heard positive and negative stuff on the government and it was the same when Harper was PM

I remember when Peter Gzowski got so mad at Chretien in a live interview (Chretien was PM at the time), Gzowski said 'God Damn it, Mr Prime Minister!', and they cut to music for a couple of minutes. Gzowski had to go out of the studio to calm down. It was priceless.

I wonder how people would react if Trump did this. Actually, we don't have to wonder. He HAS done this and everyone reacted with ridicule. CRA hasn't even started looking at the paperwork and Trudeau, after what was likely a two minute conversation with his friend, waves it off as of no interest. It will take a brave bureaucrat, one who is near retirement, perhaps, and isn't interested in ever being promoted, to challenge Trudeau's decision.
