It's a shame really that a guy like GWB has destroyed what was once a great country.

Perhaps he should get an intern to give him a blowjob to lighten him up.

GWB never destroyed anything, he's not even allowed to run his own plumbing. And what great country are you talking about? He's christian, they don't like blow-jobs. Every sperm is sacred and must be counted.:laughing7::laughing7::wave:

George Bush is a symptom not a cause....

True enough but guys like him don't help.

I'm sure this site likes to dump on Americans but that is small minded BS.

Despite what many think most Americans are good people.

we've discussed this in another thread and surprisingly some of us actually do believe the USians aren't so bad.

there's a thread about anti-americanism being stupid. there's also quite a few americans who are members too so we can't say too much while their spies are here

Right on Avro...

When the dollar conscious conservatives applauded Mike Harris undercutting the disabled to afford tax breaks for the wealthy....when Ernie Eaves froze electricity rates to appease the poor conservative land-owners....they clapped whistled and cheered...now we're all paying for these two crooks gifts to the wealthy....

Politicians are scum...they have to be...look at the people they represent...

Closed-minded---ME FIRST....entrench and reinforce the status quo....and yes even if that means that the rich get richer as the poor get poorer...hey nothing NOTHING is more Canadian than shtting on the next guy whenever possible....

darkbeaver:

The American citizen in general has very little interest in information from sources other than the US media. The rest of the world tunes into Europe and other media for differing opinion. It would appear that CNN,ABS and cronies are towing the line and leave out or misinform at their pleasure. No wonder congress green lights all bills of a war nature.

I suspect the cover up makes use of the American's ideology of patriotism in the time of war, and listening to reasoning from alternate sources is unpatriotic. After all, their elected members would never pull the wool over their eyes. It never dons on the American that they are continually at war and fighting someone somewhere which would itself be an eye opener. What are the odds that a new war conveniently happens to pop up every decade.

It is never a good idea to seek the truth solely from American sources.

Let's assume for a minute that Iran is supplying weapons to Iraq. How is this different from the U.S. supplying Iraq with poison gas to use against Iran? A bit of a double standard at the very least. I don't believe the American evidence at the moment, but I could be wrong.

The great country I refer to is the one that prtected us all from the USSR and the like.

You forgot to thank them for helping us out with the Martians as well. How exactly did they save us from the USSR? As far as I understand the period they made us cough up a lot of cash to fix a problem that didn't exist. Forget your fairy tales of the Red Horde, it was an invention of the Military Industrial Complex. Killing socialists was a money making racket, when the Iron Curtainl fell Wall Street wept and whined untill they invented the Islamic Hordes, now things are moving of the shelves again, everybodys happy, bussiness ia good what. :laughing7::laughing7::wave:

Scum every last one of them...

Let's assume for a minute that Iran is supplying weapons to Iraq. How is this different from the U.S. supplying Iraq with poison gas to use against Iran? A bit of a double standard at the very least. I don't believe the American evidence at the moment, but I could be wrong.

A better comparison would be the US support of the Mujahideen to fight the Soviet invasion/occupation of Afghanistan during the 1980's.... or China/USSR support of the Viet Cong.

I doubt Iran would be stupid enough to directly arm Iraqi insurgents. Likely Iran is playing the same game other nations have played in the past and there is little the US can do about it. Even if the US finds munitions stamped with MADE IN IRAN in Farsi, it still proves nothing. The munitions could have been bought and sold a dozen times from the time they were made in Iran until they were found in Iraq.

Even if the US tries to blame Iran for American failures in Iraq... the US has neither the resources nor the will to invade and occupy Iran. Bombing Iran would only increase Iran's level of support and probably provoke a retaliatory strike in response.

Most likely the US will use terrorist organizations to destablize Iran with the objective of forcing Iran to focus internally.

...by the autumn of 2004, pressure for confrontation with Iran had resumed, with President Bush telling Fox News that the US would never allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. By then, the Pentagon had been directed to have a viable military option for Iran in place by June 2005.

This phase of pressure was marked by increased activity directed at Congress. An "Iran Freedom Support Act" was introduced in the House and Senate in January and February of 2005. Neoconservatives and individuals linked to the defense contracting industry formed an Iran Policy Committee, and in April and May presented briefings in support of MEK before the newly-created Iran Human Rights and Democracy Caucus of the House of Representatives.

In March 2006, administration action became more overt. The State Department created an Office of Iranian Affairs, while the Pentagon created an Iranian Directorate that had much in common with the earlier Office of Special Plans. According to Seymour Hersh, covert US operations within Iran in preparation for a possible air attack also began at this time and included Kurds and other Iranian minority groups...

On Cheney, Rumsfeld order, US outsourcing special ops, intelligence to Iraq terror group, intelligence officials say
Larisa Alexandrovna
Published: Thursday April 13, 2006

The Pentagon is bypassing official US intelligence channels and turning to a dangerous and unruly cast of characters in order to create strife in Iran in preparation for any possible attack, former and current intelligence officials say.
One of the operational assets being used by the Defense Department is a right-wing terrorist organization known as Mujahedeen-e Khalq (MEK), which is being “run” in two southern regional areas of Iran. They are Baluchistan, a Sunni stronghold, and Khuzestan, a Shia region where a series of recent attacks has left many dead and hundreds injured in the last three months.
One former counterintelligence official, who wished to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of the information, describes the Pentagon as pushing MEK shortly after the invasion of Iraq in 2003. The drive to use the insurgent group was said to have been advanced by the Pentagon under the influence of the Vice President’s office and opposed by the State Department, National Security Council and then-National Security Advisor, Condoleezza Rice...

Then again, what's best for the US may not be a factor in starting a war with Iran:

Certainly the news is full of the same sort of fear based pro-death and destruction propaganda which preceded the Iraq invasion.

Polls: Anti-Iran Propaganda Working
by Jim LobeThe escalating crisis over Iran's nuclear program appears to have persuaded the U.S. public that Tehran now poses a greater threat to the United States than any other country, or even al-Qaeda, according to recent surveys....
