Canada voted for a UN resolution this afternoon in support of Palestinians' right to self-determination.
The vote marks a major departure for Canada, which has declined to support substantially the same resolution through 14 consecutive votes since Stephen Harper came to power in 2006.
Tuesday's resolution was opposed by Israel, the United States and three Pacific island nations that depend heavily on U.S. aid and tend to vote with Washington at the UN: the Marshall Islands, Nauru and the Federated States of Micronesia.
Speaking on background, an official at Global Affairs Canada said the vote sends a message that Canada does not agree with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's assertion on Monday that Israeli settlements in the Occupied Territories are "not, per se, inconsistent with international law."

Oh this is adorable. The UN, consisting partly of the EU and those who are pro-EU/anti-Brexit are concerned about the right to self-determination? Am I reading that right? So Groper has taken swipes at Britain in their attempt at a nice, peaceful, democratic exit from the EU yet supports a terrorist state with no legitimate leadership, that has never rescinded their call to a war of extermination against the state of Israel, in their bid for self-determination.

Man, that next killer asteroid can't get here soon enough. It's like living in bizarro world. So just to be sure here, Britain's attempt at a peaceful, democratic exit from the EU is somehow racist and a nazi ideal (as has been stated clearly many times by others) but Palestine's ultra-violent reaction over the last 70+ years to the Jews getting at least part of their homeland back is something to applaud and support.

I mean I'm still trying to figure out how a 5,000 yr old Jewish capital is somehow Palestinian/muslim land if the entire Americas and Australia/New Zealand are stolen land.

About freakin time we held Israel to account for the Bullshit of its own making.

Neither side wants to solve the issue.

But it's always the fault of Palestine? Fuk that, it's about time Israel was held to account and now it is.

70+ years of constant aggression towards them and yet everyone expects them to be tolerant.

However, if you read the UNSCOP report there's a little tidbit of information that's very interesting. If Israel had lost any of its wars against it's more serious islamic aggressors, Palestine would have ceased to exist as well. The only reason Palestine still exists, such as it is, is because Israel still exists.

Ah, the ol' MSNBC map that they admitted was "dishonest". And you whine about fake news.

Now, here's the reality. In 1946 it wasn't Palestinian land, it was British territory.

In 1947 "Palestine" utterly rejected the partition plan in favour of war/extermination against Israel.
1949-1967: The green areas were initially occupied by Jordan and Egypt, not Israel.
2012: The green areas are the first ever Palestinian ruled lands.

The land that is called Palestine has never previously existed as an autonomous state. It has pretty much always been someone else's territory.

That is an excuse to invade?

Holy **** man. Seriously.

Timeline of the name "Palestine"

Further information: Time periods in the Palestine region and Names of the Levant

This article presents a list of notable historical references to the name Palestine as a place name in the Middle East throughout the history of the region, including its cognates such as "Filastin" and "Palaestina".

The term "Peleset" (transliterated from hieroglyphs as P-r-s-t) is found in five inscriptions referring to a neighboring people or land starting from circa 1150 BC during the Twentieth Dynasty of Egypt.

The first known mention is at the temple at Medinet Habu which refers to the Peleset among those who fought with Egypt in Ramesses III's reign,[2][3] and the last known is 300 years later on Padiiset's Statue.

The Assyrians called the same region "Palashtu/Palastu" or "Pilistu", beginning with Adad-nirari III in the Nimrud Slab in c. 800 BC through to an Esarhaddon treaty more than a century later.[4][5] Neither the Egyptian nor the Assyrian sources provided clear regional boundaries for the term.[6]

You'll find Hebrews owned it for less time than anyone who owned it owned it.

But carry on with that same old apartheid racist history bullshit justification anyway, I'm sure you all will win by yelling the loudest...and by sucking the US try of cash with the foreign aid welfare that is all illegal because Israel has nukes, has not signed the NNPT, and the USA has a law regarding that.

Among the U.S. evangelical leaders who disagreed with Trump's move was Gary Burge, a New Testament scholar at Calvin Theological Seminary in Michigan.

"For many evangelicals, the modern state of Israel is a revival of the Israel they read about in their Bibles," he says. "But when you build a bridge from biblical Israel to modern Israel, there is an enormous gap in history and theology."

Those conservative evangelicals who flock to Israel every year and express solidarity there with the Israeli government, he says, "may not understand that the modern state of Israel isn't anything like biblical Israel."

Accountable for what? Winning four wars that were instigated by Arab nations, only to end up with more territory than they had started with? Would you rather have had the IDF lay down, and let the Arabs follow through on their plans to "push the Jews into the sea?"

Accountable for going over-fuking-board defending land that was given to them by a guilty conscience post-WWII world without any consideration for the people in the area.

Accountable for not even bother to TRY anymore to deal with Palestine in any kind of humane manner, and instead pushing their own agenda and not giving a shyte about the people who are not Israelis at all.

Accountable for breaking resolutions and agreements that are supposed to try and help keep peace, which Israel obviously doesn't want and hasn't wanted since about the 90's.

I used to be on the side of Israel defending themselves. Having rockets on their people nearly daily, destroying places and lives but then I got tired of seeing planes and ****ing big guns lobbing bombs taking out even MORE people and places than the bombs Palestinian's were throwing at Israel.

Actually, as I've said before and repeatedly, NEITHER side wants peace so fuk em both, but I'm tired of Israel being kid gloved because they can't be seen in a negative light or OMG you're anti-Semite... fuk that, too.

No, not it at all. However going overboard with the lack of tolerance is what's turning people against Israel, or it should be.

Proof? Cause pretty sure Israel is destroying Palestine pretty well itself.

Lack of tolerance? Should Israel tolerate suicide bombers and rockets being launched into its territory from the Occupied Territories, Syria, and Lebanon. If this happened to the US, UK, France, or Russia, the perpetrators would pay a terrible price of retribution. Look at post 9/11 Afghanistan as an example.

Yeah. Lack of tolerance. Maybe it should be lack of restraint instead. There's defending yourself, then there's what Israel does.

And we're not talking US, UK, etc and etc... we're talking Israel and Palestine.

The Palestinians play dirty.

So do Israeli's now.

Often the terrorist cells that Hamas and others have carried out recruiting and training,to carry out attacks on Jews are strategically placed beside Hospitals,Day Cares, Elementary Schools, etc. WHen the IDF inevitably learns of the cell, and destroys it from the air, Palestinians usually mug for the international media, and hold dead children in their arms, to show the World how "evil" Israel is.

Yep, totally agreed that they've done that.

But Israel, in launching bombs, have ALSO hit targets that should never have been hit along WITH legitimate targets.

They have some of the best military in the world, so they say, and yet they have to destroy as much as they can with each missile?

Sorry, not buying that "We're defending ourselves" BS anymore.

Again, NEITHER side wants to stop this stupid war crap, but Israel needs to be held accountable for it's own actions too and finally it's happening.

Conan O'Brien visits Palestine, and is confronted and harassed by delusional anti-Israel protesters.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jqf5awTdAY&t=78s

Conan O'Brien, of all people. One of the nicest guys in Hollywood, who is non-political, and they swarm him like a mob. If you listen closely, some of the protesters slip up, and let it be known that they do not want a two-state solution, but want the Jews to leave the Holy Land, permanently.

O'Briens patience dealing with these people borders on saint-like. I certainly would not have been able to listen to them for 60 seconds, let alone 20 minutes.

Funny thing... the Israeli's don't want a two state resolution and they want the Palestinians to leave.

Israel only got the land out of guilt trip from WWII. The people there before were given no consideration what so ever.

Fuk both sides.
