This is my usual Hallowe'en costume. The ferrets came courtesy of a stole I found at an antique shop. The fur cape is from Value Village fur coats cut up and resewn. Arm material is cheesy faux fur stuff. Helemt is an equestrian thing with brim cut off and reattached as a visor.

Just as likely to worship road kill and dance around a fire dressed in it's hide.

A couple of Elgin county guys I know collect road kill, skin em and send em off to Northbay once a year for a big fur auction. I figure thats where a Value Village fur coat comes from.

A buddy of mine who is the left handed artistic type made it for me. Basis is old hockey armour. A metal screen material makes up the rest. All is covered in very thin leather and held together with hot glue. Basic patterns from dress material shops and such are very cheap. Tunics, robes and such can be cut from most materials and if look a bit rough might add a bit of reality to the costume. The accessories to such a costume make or break it.

I have got some negative comments on my use of the ferrets. Next Hallowe'en I am thinking of covering them up with Teddy bear hides. Bet that gets me a lot of oohs and aahs, poor things.

My shift work and coverage for absenteeism and maintenance doesn't usually let me do things that require regular attendance and group activities. Would love to try though. I also do some metal work and would love to attempt to build an SCA legal helmet. The costume is just that a costume. I doubt it would hold up to to much abuse from even a padded stick fight. I do intend to make a shield for the costume. The two shields I have are not adequate. One is decorative and the other is way to thick and hangs over my garage door. It has my family heraldric symbol of 5 gold diamonds on a blue background.

This one is a 55 gallon drum lid, beaten out and rimmed with painted airline hose and wire. The dragon is expanded polystyrene covered in terracotta clay (my buddy's favourite medium).
The medieval weapons he made are a bit heavy to be truly functional. You would have to be Arnie (in his prime) to swing and stop from swinging the axe.

Wow, those are impressively beautiful, very unlike the ones I've seen in the SCA which are very crude and semi-functional. I doubt they'd stop a sword, but they stop padded sticks just fine, lol.

I think that's more a matter of learning to accept them as who they are. My relationships (I've only been in two) failed not because of beliefs but because of maturity... unlike many of my friends I'm already living on my own, which has given me a sense of independance my ex boyfriends didn't have.

Your way above your years little one but I think its because of your upbringing. Youve lived the path were most are just learning it.
