There is another factor to consider. Certain provinces are guaranteed a minimum number of seats. PEI for example cannot have less than four and if I remember correctly Quebec is guaranteed 54. That makes it rather awkward to reduce the number of seats.
Well, they have 75 so there's room to cut back without going below the minimum guaranteed. The PEI minimum is insane. If you go by population they may be entitled to two seats. Our system is really messed up when it comes to representation.
You have that right, BUT if you want to see "really insane" take a gander at the breakdown for the Senate, PEI has 2/3 the seats of British Columbia and New Brunswick has almost double that of British Columbia. People try to tell us out west here that the East isn't favoured! I say BULL SH*T. When are we going to do something about it? Well actually maybe we shouldn't. I'd be ashamed to think there are that many useless bastards in B.C. :smile:
Adding seats when some areas are already over represented is not evening things out it is just adding costs and the 18 million is every year and just a start. If you had to pay taxes you would feel differently about it.
