Much evil has been done in the name of good intentions. Orphanages were about good intentions too but many of those places were truly Dickensian.
Yep to all nationalities, why is it that First Canadian's are turning it into a business plan?

Because the timing is right. I mean hell, I can trace my DNA back to the Iberian Celts. So who do I sue for the destruction of my people and its culture?Yep to all nationalities, why is it that First Canadian's are turning it into a business plan?
I toast Queen Bess and her great-great-granddaughter every Victoria Day.
The residential schools is a part of our history as a nation. What happened should be taught in public school to educate the next generation.

Understanding the mistakes of our ancestors will better equip us not to repeat them. A national holiday is a stupid idea and really a cop out. A band aid from the Pander Bear. It's like throwing money at an issue without trying to understand or correct it. We have been doing that for far too long.
How about we include a wider array of facts.
We've all heard of the use of small pox infested blankets, but have you ever heard about HBC innoculating FNs to prevent their demise?
I believe some of your countrymen were also interred during the first Great War and used as labor for the development of Jasper .So is it right to punish today's society for sins of the past? By the way I'm Ukrainian a descendent of a true genocide in the Holdomor to be persecuted in the new world for being of Eastern European descent, to top it off forced adopted from my unwed mother of 15 in the 60's so who should I sue? There are multiple avenues open to me
Kids are better able to understand the issue.
Once they become adults they have been programmed to reject it.
Kids are much more malleable and moldable, for sure. Much easier to brainwash, especially when parents aren't watching what's going on.
Most adults have the ability to analyze facts and accept or reject what they choose to feel guilt and remorse over...although this inherent ability seems to be getting increasingly rare with successive generations, perhaps because of what's happening when they're kids.
The nature of Canada in the late 1800s was such that our primary ruling class was predominantly British and most institutions were set up copying the English model . Now in the early 2000s all Canadian’s are held captive to British mistakes . My Irish ancestors didn’t steal any land , they worked under horrible conditions for the stealers. My Japanese wife’s ancestors had their property confiscated and got interred inland . All the displaced Europeans that immigrated to Canada after the second Great War , all of us our being made to apologize and compensate for something in which we had no part .The residential schools is a part of our history as a nation. Calling someone racist because they disagree with you is the nuclear option. Basically, your ideas have been overrun, you don't have an argument left in your arsenal, but you have the coveted R Bomb.![]()

The Holdomor was the first then Hitler came along with attempt number two only 10 years later.
Had the Soviets not disarmed Ukrainians, Hitler would have never made it to Lviv.
Nailed it. There is one very important skill we learned as kids because we interacted with our environment and were allowed to do so without being bubble-wrapped and helicoptered and it's called 'risk assessment'. This is a basic skill which cannot simply be "taught". Risk assessment skills are also one of the building blocks for critical thinking skills. Something that doesn't seem to be encouraged in school anymore. And it's no surprise. People who are both educated and have critical thinking skills aren't easily manipulated as adults. And that's the LAST thing the ALT-left wants, educated people who can think for themselves.Kids are much more malleable and moldable, for sure. Much easier to brainwash, especially when parents aren't watching what's going on. I certainly wouldn't call that understanding the issue, in fact it's their lack of understanding that makes them malleable.
